Pull the lever, Kronk!

More lessons learned from Peru:

I knew this going into it, but Peru is not for those looking to “Fly & Flop”. It’s full of culture, adventure, breathaking nature, and some of the most unique experiences around the world. And a lot of logistics! For example, to get from Cusco to Lake Titicaca, you can either drive 8 hours, or connect through Lima on a flight. Or on the train to Machu Picchu, you can only take 17 pounds of luggage - so is your transfer taking care of the remaining luggage for you? Of course, I’ll take care of this for you and manage all travel expectations.

Stray dogs - as cute as they are, don’t pet! They might not be vaccinated - it’s usually a local’s pet who comes out during the day for cuddles, and goes back home for food.

Don’t eat the street food, Peruvians have tougher stomachs and the meat might have been out all day without being refrigerated.

I can’t say this enough - GO DURING THEIR OFF SEASON! January is Peru’s summer, so while it rained once or twice on our 10 day trip, it was lush, even more beautiful, and the crowds were non-existent.

Don’t go on Sunday to Machu Picchu - it’s free for the locals so there is no limit of guests that can enter this day.

Try guinea pig!

Last tip - seriously, add Peru to your bucket list. I’m so glad I did.

Why Peru, you ask? Let me tell you why it’s a must-see destination.

First off, it’s not as far as you might think! From Bismarck, North Dakota (aka the middle of nowhere), we arrived in just 14 hours. That’s faster than many trips to Europe. The longest flight was 6 hours from Miami, and the best part? No jet lag—it’s on Eastern Time!

Second, the views are absolutely insane. Photos can’t do them justice. As we ATVed through the Sacred Valley, it felt like we were in Ireland at times, Switzerland at others, yet it was uniquely, stunningly Peru. It’s easily the most beautiful countryside and mountain scenery I’ve ever experienced.

Third, the food! Hands down, the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. If you’re a foodie, Peru is a destination you can’t miss.

Lastly, just go. Seriously. Every single expectation I had was exceeded, and then some.

Add Peru to your bucket list—you won’t regret it.
