💡 Travel Tip Tuesday💡

Let’s say you contact me about a vacation … I share some ideas, options, and pricing with you … you see something that you like, but you aren’t quite sure that you are ready to commit, so you take a few days to ponder.

This is totally understandable, but by the time you let me know which option you like best, sometimes it’s either not available anymore or it has increased in price.

How can you avoid this? Let me know ASAP when you see something that fits what you are looking for and I can put that specific reservation on hold for you. Most of the time I can hold it for at least three days (depending on the supplier). This will lock in your price and secure your resort, cruise, or room of choice. If you decide not to move forward, no harm done, but if you decide that it is the vacation for you, we’ve got it covered!

🏰 Magical Memories Monday 🏰

When we took my niece to Walt Disney World for her first visit, meeting the princesses was high on the priority list. Of course the character meals are one way to guarantee great interactions, but we also loved the experience in this picture. This is Fairytale Hall in Magic Kingdom. You can look up wait times on your app and it’s usually listed under “Meet Tiana and Friends at Fairytale Hall.” This was the cutest experience where each princess took time with each child to talk and take photos. The kids felt so special and we did not feel rushed at all. If this is an important activity for your little one, be sure to add it to your list of must-dos!”

🍨 The Kitchen Sink 🍨

The famous Kitchen Sink sundae can be found at Walt Disney World’s Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. This bowl of yumminess includes multiple scoops of Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Cookies ‘n Cream, and Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. Then they add Hot fudge, Peanut butter, Snickers pieces, brownie bites, Marshmallow cream, Chocolate syrup, Pineapple topping, Toasted almonds, chocolate shavings, and Crushed cookies. Last but not least, a whole can of whipped cream!

When you order this dessert, it is a whole production when it is served to you, so don’t think no one will know! 😉
The Kitchen Sink serves four people, and if you’re skeeved out by the thought of sharing it, no worries! They bring a large serving spoon and bowls to serve yourselves.

It is seriously soooo delicious!

🚢 Magical Memories Monday 🚢

Alexa contacted me to help her plan a cruise for her family during the month of January, which is always a great time for a tropical escape! We considered a few different cruise lines but landed on a 4 Night Cruise to the Bahamas on Liberty of the Seas. It also included a stop at Royal Caribbean’s Island, CocoCay. We booked them an “ultra spacious ocean view room,” which was great for their family of five.

Here is what Alexa shared …

“Although a few of our sail days were windy and wet the other days made it worth it! Our highlights:
- the Dolphin Encounter at Blue Lagoon - pet/hugged/kissed/played with a dolphin ($$ but worth it!)
-snorkeled on CocoCay (pretty fish and Thomas and Mike saw a 6 foot shark!)
-braved the 450 foot waterslide on CocoCay ($$ for Thrill Ride pass but our kids couldn’t be that close to a water slide and not go. Also, the facilities are nicer in the Thrill Ride park so it paid for itself)
-Wave Rider on the boat (Mike and Charlie did it!)
- “My time” dining was a hit! As well as Windjammer for our differing food preferences.

A few things I will share for future travelers:
- Magnetic hooks and clips were HUGE!
- We brought an over-the-door shoe hanger which also helped with space
- Dramamine was our friend.
- We enjoyed hiding and finding ducks!
- I wish I had purchased 2 (not 1) internet for devices so that Mike and I could communicate. That was tricky. We had walkie-talkies but they didn’t have a very far range.
- The exit from the ship/port was at a different location than the entrance (maybe the ship docked a different terminal?), so we had a hard time finding our car.
- I don’t think the professional photo package was worth it. They were not wandering the ship (as advertised). We only saw them in the Dining room and for a few hours on the promenade each evening.
- I bought a multi plug on Amazon that claimed to be cruise safe. It was confiscated. Ha! Only USB multiplugs allowed.

We had a great time!!”

Some of our team members toured The Disney Magic cruise ship last week and shared beautiful photos and videos with us. (Visit my stories today for more.) One thing that every person commented on was the fact that this ship is over 25 years old and felt brand new.

Disney is constantly updating, refurbishing, and reimagining their spaces to keep their cruise ships in the absolute best shape possible.

When I sailed the Disney Magic to Lookout Cay this past summer one of my favorite parts was all the lounge spaces and areas to relax. I also loved the kids clubs.

One of my coworkers sent me these photos yesterday from her recent trip to Hawaii. I could not get over how beautiful the colors were and how vivid everything looked in the photos. Can you imagine how amazing it would be in person?

There are many different ways to discover and explore Alaska, but taking a cruise or a cruise tour definitely tops the list! Why? Alaska is expansive and the drive from city to city can take up much of your allotted vacation time. By cruising, you get to view the state’s coastline, glaciers, and wildlife as you venture to each port.

In addition, cruising allows you to see glaciers up close, spot marine life and explore the Inside Passage, all while enjoying a cozy stateroom and dining onboard.

If you choose a cruise tour option, you simply add pre or post-stays on land to your sailing!

I’ve always said that it’s never too early or too late to book a vacation! However, it’s almost always better to start planning early. Just “how early” is subjective, but here are some of my thoughts and tips:

✈️ International Travel: contact me 9 to 12 months in advance
Not only does this give you plenty of time to pay for your trip with installments, but allows you to book flights at lower rates or use miles/points. It gives you extra time to apply for passports and/or visas. It gives me extra time to share different itineraries with you to find the perfect fit for your travel party. Lastly, many international suppliers will require final payments at least 90 days in advance, so this allows you some wiggle room in case you need to make changes before then.

🚢 Cruises: contact me 6 - 12 months in advance. The cost for most staterooms will increase as a cruise fills up, so for the lowest rates, you will want to book early. It will also give you the most options for cabins on the most desired decks and locations. If you have a big group who wants to be near each other or have connecting rooms, reaching out early will make a big difference. Afraid that a big discount will be released after you book? No sweat! I can still apply the promotion to your booking if it can save you some money!

🏰 Walt Disney World or Disneyland: Contact me about 6 months in advance. You will find the most availability for resorts and room types when you book early. It also allows me enough time to share all of my tips without overloading you with too much info at once. This gives us time to discuss your dream vacation, share resources, book transfers, watch for discounts, map out a park schedule, etc. We can book your favorite dining two months in advance, and still have plenty of time to discuss those Lightning Lane options!

🎢 Universal Orlando or Hollywood: contact me 3 - 6 months in advance. Universal has historically been a fairly easy trip to plan, but resort availability can be slim at peak times, so the earlier you book, the better! In addition, with Epic Universe opening this May, it might be a game changer for how we plan in the future.

🏰 Magical Memories Monday 🏰

Rebecca and John joined their adult children and grandchildren on a fabulous Walt Disney World Vacation. They stayed at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and shared the following with me …

“We had a great time! We were so happy with our resort. When John and I visit the WDW parks again we will definitely stay on property. Probably at the Coronado :). There was so much to do there. The Shuttles were clean, easy, and convenient. You hear people talk about how great it is, and it was much more affordable than we thought it would be. We would not have chosen this without your support and guidance!

For dining, I loved Space 220. I sat next to my grandson, so that made it even more awesome watching his excitement and energy. The food was great, dining while orbiting the earth, watching astronauts and space kids and dogs go by from time to time … just great. Our waitress made a point to stay in character - she was great. John’s favorite was Be Our Guest. The filet was perfect and the venue was enchanting. It felt special to be dining there!

The rides were great! Guardians of the Galaxy - wow! Not what I expected and that almost always is a great thing in a roller coaster!

If you can’t tell with my smile in the Mandalorian photo, I was totally geeked about that. Have loved sharing Star Wars with our kids and now grandkids. We enjoyed building the droid this time too!

I so appreciate all of your help, suggestions, and support! You did so much more than just help us book a trip. Our experience working with you has been eye opening!”

If you have never experienced a river cruise, it is completely different from an ocean cruise. It’s a much smaller vessel that moves very slowly. It has a very small capacity (usually less than 200 passengers), which allows for a more intimate experience. There is no fear of motion sickness since the ship moves along smooth rivers. Lastly, you get to experience cities that are more inland since river cruises can venture into countries instead of just sailing along the coast.
