If you ever wanted to live in Australia this is the episode for you! Our guest Mirka Suomäki has been living abroad in Australia for the past 3 years. We discuss the visa process and requirements of making such a major move, including 88 days of mandatory farm work in a ginger processing factory. While living in Australia was never part of Mirka's master plan she could not imagine herself anywhere else. Her love for surf and sun has guided her to this place and a yoga teacher training course is her new challenge to better herself and contribute to her life abroad. Someone that has changed my definition of Travel is our friend the Dutch DJ Sylva . He has done the typical backpacking trip through Asia and lived in Australia and Bali, but his most impactful stories have been about his time in Canada. He took a job in forest management to help control the spread of an invasive species that destroys the Canadian wilderness if not regulated. His travels began in Asia but his growth took place while working in the brutal Canadian wilderness because he was finally living for himself and not for someone else. Talks of surfing Tofino in the thickest wetsuit you can imagine then warming up in a hot tub dug directly into the beach. His journey teaches us about doing things for ourselves.
