The three new males. Very pleased with how they turned out! They are going to be some good looking packers some day! All three look very similar and have a lot of great packers in their pedigrees. Also we’re getting started on the new fencing project.

These guys both have a lot of trail experience and are really in their prime. They both covered over 300 trail miles this fall in some rugged country and were part of my string that packed out 4 bull elk this fall. These are my best two packers right now, but I have multiple up and comer young males that will be ready soon to add to my string soon. Check out my site and let me know if you have any questions.

Lone Pine Llamas offers athletic, easy to handle, Ccara pack llamas for sale and rent for packing in the backcountry. Lone Pine Llamas is located in southern Oregon near the cascade mountain range. We rent llamas to families for exploring Oregon's backcountry and backcountry hunters and anglers.

The llamas kicked butt this year and covered over 200 miles this fall, and packed out 4 elk for my friend and I. It was steep rough country with some cold and difficult conditions, and they did better than I could have imagined. I am going to be selling a couple of my best packers from this string to make way for some of the young up and comers I have at the ranch. I will post them up when I get the website launched soon.

The boys sure proved their worth on this trip! These guys did over 70 miles of packing in 11 days. With one day that was a 17 mile day shuttling meat out of the Idaho backcountry followed by a 9 mile day the next. We didn’t know their limits and were worried we were going to push them too hard, but when we had two bulls down and were 11 miles in the backcountry we had to hustle to get meat and camp out. We broke it into two trips out so that we didn’t load them too heavy. We had 750 lbs of b***d out meat plus the antlers and all our camp. They did awesome!!! It turned out to be quite the backcountry adventure. There weren’t very many elk, definitely not what I would expect for such beautiful elk country, but we found a couple bulls and that’s all it took.

Trying to build a pole barn shelter for the llamas in my spare time. Our new place only has trees for shelter, which the llamas probably prefer over a structure, but I feel bad not having a structure for them to go into. We tried putting up several shelter logic shelters with panels, but even staked down the first wind storm completely demolished them. So straw under the trees and parking the horse trailer in the pasture are their only shelter options until I get this thing built. Frozen ground makes it extremely difficult to punch holes for the posts but I have good help!

With some help from a friend I am working on a new saddle design. It’s pretty similar to Al Ellis’ tried and true design, but I am making a few of my own changes. I think it will will be lighter, stronger and will have some more tie off points on the sawbucks for lashing antlers and other awkwards items to. I will also be able to custom fit the bend of the aluminum back brace to the unique shape of each llamas back.

I also teamed up with a business that builds hunting packs to create some new panniers. I am pretty excited to get these out on the trail!

We bought South Fork Scout a few months ago and between my breeding females and a friends females, Scout is expecting 15 babies next year. We are excited to see what he produces. He is the ultimate packer with great conformation and rare genetics. His Appaloosa coloring is awesome too!

Two of our baby boys! Norman (grey and white) was born April 12th and Champ was born May 1st. We brought our two favorite female packers down to a friend in california last year and had the girls bred to two of his top studs. These guys should grow up to be some awesome packers and potential studs.
