On this day in 1733, General Oglethorpe lead 114 colonist up the 40 foot bluff from the Savannah River and founded this great city and the state of Georgia. Due to his contributions to this master planned city, this is one of the most walkable cities in the US with 22 of 24 squares still intact along with Forsyth Park south of our street. The preservation of Savannah allows you to walk back in time from Colonial times to the 1920s-30s. We love our city!!
