This training was an opportunity to assess my travel client relationships, learn about client-based travel planning, and set goals for better ways to serve clients throughout the trip planning process.

Not your grandma's travel agent!

(But I am my grandma's travel agent 😉 )

I was in a group of travel agents at a convention a few years back, and we were discussing our travel plans. One agent made a snide comment about all the travel some of us had planned. My hunch would be that she is one that gathers your budget and tosses out a quote.

Things run a little differently around here. I want to get to know destinations so I can tell clients things like:

👉 Exuma has a tiny airport! Eat a good meal before you leave the resort or you may be stuck with tiny bags of chips.
👉 Avoid the Harry Potter-land bathrooms in Universal Orlando as they're the most used throughout the day.
👉 When you climb Dunn's River Falls, there's a trick to escaping the vendor maze at the exit: ask to buy a beer!

Sure, most days as a travel agent are spent at a desk. But, every place I travel is to collect more info to share with my clients. They deserve the VIP scoop!

If you could only visit one place, for the rest of your life, where would it be?

I know — it’s the hardest question ever.

But there’s just something about that one place that feels like it’s calling you back over and over again.

For me, it's (currently) Costa Rica. I love the combination of warm weather, volcanoes, rainforest, wildlife, amazing resorts, friendly locals, and beaches.

I’m curious: what’s the destination you’d go back to again and again?
