It’s Thursday, so we are throwing back with these pics from last Friday night when the aurora borealis showed up and showed out in Tennessee. Pics all taken with iPhone without using nighttime photography options. 🙄 (ok, I was excited! wasn’t expecting to see this!!
Pics taken from the deck facing Gatlinburg, facing Mt LeConte, and some overheard. Hope you got your witness those beautiful dancing lights!

Thank you for the feature, Adler Peak Enterprises! We enjoyed working with you on our remodel. Yes, the view is wonderful, and we do love that fireplace! The hearth makes a cozy seat to enjoy watching it snow as the Ober Mountain tram goes by. Just add hot chocolate. ❄️ ❄️

Truth! The views from the Ober Mountain Aerial Tramway are fabulous, and you really should check out all the new activities they offer. We happen think our view of the tram overhead with Mt. LeConte in the background is pretty wonderful, too.😉 Classic Gatlinburg!
Thank you for the shoutout, Adler Peak Enterprises!
Yes, opening walls and moving the fireplace created a very livable space with big mountain and city views. This was a great renovation, and guests enjoy the open space.

He knows when you’ve been grilling.
He knows when you’ve had steak.
He knows when you leave food in your car,
So be aware for goodness sake! 🎶
Our furry neighbors will be out soon. We love seeing them, but always be “bear aware” to help keep them safe: keep doors closed, leave no food or wrappers in your car, lock your car, and no food left outside anywhere. The bears won’t thank you, but remember this is tough love! 😉

Sometimes little updates make a big difference. We were finally able to place our new metal and leather side chairs at the dining table, and we are pretty excited about the change. A comfy seat + something good to eat = pretty sweet! ❤️
Come enjoy dining with a view.

Not tired of snow pics yet? Good! How about this frosty view out our windows into downtown Gatlinburg, and a close up view of our beautiful hemlock tree bejeweled with snow? The iconic Ober Gatlinburg tram adds to the enchantment—grab a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy!

Wow! The sky has really been “showing out” for the past couple of days, and we have been amazed. From storm clouds to a bright, blinding sunrise, to a gorgeous sunset and moon, the views have been spectacular. We never tire of seeing the iconic Ober Gatlinburg tram go past or watching the lights of Gatlinburg come on. Come see for yourself!
11/12/2021
Good Morning, Gatlinburg! Sharing a little time lapse of the clouds rolling over Mt LeConte this morning. As you might expect, no tram is currently gliding on those cables because of high winds. That said, we think even the approaching storm clouds are beautiful. Everyone stay safe today and be mindful of others who have already faced loss in the path of these storms.

We have “decked the halls,” and so has the whole town! Will you be in the Smoky Mountains for the holidays?

The leaves have been spectacular this fall, but the snow-capped mountains outside our windows put on a magnificent show, too. Can’t wait! (Link in bio)

Chalet A Le Conte: Cottage Has The Tale!
Welcome to Chalet A Le Conte in Gatlinburg, TN! This beautiful, upscale 3 bedroom/3 full bath vacation rental was completely renovated in 2018 with new hardwood floors, a “waterfall” jetted tub, new wood/metal/wire stair railing, new furniture, fresh paint, granite countertops, stainless appliances, updated lighting and many aged-wood accents.
As you enjoy the home’s updates, you will be glad to see that the features making this a classic Gatlinburg experience have not changed: amazing mountain views (including Mt LeConte), the city lights of downtown Gatlinburg (including the Gatlinburg Space Needle) and watching the Ober Gatlinburg tram passing by overhead
Why the name Chalet A Le Conte? It’s a play on words. It gives a nod to Chalet Village, where we are located. It also gives a nod to beautiful, iconic Mt LeConte, and we love our incredible views of that magnificent mountain! Plus, the name translates (literally, even if not grammatically correct French) to “cottage has the tale.”
Yes! This cottage has the tale! Built in 1974, it is roughly the same age as the Ober Gatlinburg tram. They “grew up together.” How many visitors over the years have stood on its decks and waved to folks passing by in the tram? How many guests have thrilled to a bear--or two--meandering by? How many people have marveled at the spectacular view of fresh snow covering the top of Mt LeConte? So many stories. So many ski vacations. So many families. So many smiles.
We are thrilled to be part of the next chapter in the story of this classic Gatlinburg beauty, and we invite you to be part of “the tale,” too. Come see for yourself. Come take in the view. The mountains are calling!
