What do all these photos have in common? They were all taken during amazing Viator excursions on my recent trips to Italy and Hawaii! I love using Viator to book unforgettable experiences in each place I visit both near and far. They have over 300,000 tours and activities world wide that fit every budget, schedule, and interest. The best part is that with my link you can use code EMTRAV10 for 10% off any activity booked by Thursday, December 19th! These make for excellent holiday gifts as well! Our last day in Italy! We began with an amazing guided tour of Vatican City where we visited the Vatican Museums (amazing but SUPER crowded), St. Peter’s Basilica, and of course the Sistine Chapel. It was truly an excellent tour, but the place is so massive I need to go back to see it all! In the afternoon we strolled across the river to check out the Villa Borghese Gardens which had a gorgeous view of Rome (and an impending thunder storm). We hopped on the metro and got back to our hotel to beat the rain before enjoying one last pasta dinner before our early morning flight home. What an incredible trip! 🇮🇹

We continued our Roman adventures with a guided tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. It was so beautiful to see the ancient structures still standing right in the middle of the bustling capital city. After we looked at lots of old stuff, we needed to refuel with more gelato of course 😂. Finally, we ended the night with an evening stroll to see the Colosseum all lit up - even more spectacular than during the day!

Bongiorno Roma! We arrived in Rome and immediately checked into the Hotel Quirinale just a few blocks from the train station. We dropped off our luggage and headed out to explore the city. We started at the Spanish Steps, continued to the Trevi Fountain (which was unfortunately roped off since it was being cleaned), and ended up at the Monument to Victor Emmanuel II just outside the Roman Forum and Colosseum. It was free to visit the top of the monument and there were incredible views of the city from above. We ended the night with a pasta making class and got to enjoy our delicious creations for dinner! It was so fun!

Our rainiest Florence day was actually one of my favorites! Andrew and I spent the morning exploring the Tuscan countryside on our guided Vespa and Fiat tour. It was SO fun riding around the hills and visiting the many historic villages. We even rode past the home of Galileo Galilei. Our tour concluded with a homemade pasta lunch at a modern Tuscan estate. It was delicious and so beautiful!

Our traveling companions spent their day also on a guided tour of Tuscany, where they visited multiple vineyards and wineries to learn about the wine making process of the famous Chianti region. They of course sampled all the products! The four of us met back up at the end of our day for more gelato and sight seeing on our last night in Florence.

We met David on our second day in Florence. We began the day with a guided walking tour of the city center, which ended with a visit to the Galleria dell’Accademia to see many of Michelangelo’s many sculptures (most of them unfinished), as well as his most famous one! Later, we visited the unmistakable pink and green Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and also tried out one of the many 16th century wine windows that still exist in the old town. It was so fun, and according to my wine expert bestie, it was some of the best wine she had on the trip!

On our third Italian day, we traveled via first class high speed train from Venice to Florence. When we arrived, we checked into our hotel room which featured a 1700s fresco on the ceiling! We spent the afternoon exploring the historic city center, walking along the canal, and tasting limoncello at a local restaurant. Our last stop was the famous Palazzo Vecchio (which you may recognize from the Tom Hanks movie Inferno). Florence is one of the best preserved cities from the Renaissance period and you can easily walk in the footsteps of amazing figures such as Leonardo DaVinci and Michelangelo!

Day 2 in Venice began with a visit to Rialto Bridge and a guided Gondola tour San Marco and the Grand Canal. Next we walked through St. Mark’s square and made a visit to the massive Basilica. The mosaic tiles were absolutely gorgeous and covered every square inch of the interior. Finally, after a quick cappuccino break, we spent the afternoon shopping for Venetian masks, Murano glass, and Scopa cards before enjoying a cotton candy sunset over the canal. Venice is beautiful! 😍

On our first day in Italy, we landed in Venice and took a private water taxi directly from the airport to our hotel. What a way to arrive! We got checked into our traditional Ca’ hotel which made us feel like we stepped back in time to the elegance of 17th century Venice. After a quick post-flight refresh we ventured out to explore the city. We strolled down Strada Nova and sampled some sweets from an authentic Italian bakery - delicious! Then, we continued our walk to the lagoon to the Michelin recommended Algiubagio restaurant for my birthday dinner. The whole night was spectacular, and we ended the evening with the most delicious gelato I’ve ever tasted!!! It was the best 30th birthday I could have hoped for!
