Build Your Own Lightsaber at Disney—and Save Money with This Clever Hack

One of the most exciting and memorable experiences at Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge is building your own custom lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop. But with the cost of the experience (currently around $250), you might be wondering how to make the most of your investment. Here’s a fun way to get multiple lightsaber experiences for the price of one by using Kyber crystals to change the color of your blade!

The Lightsaber Experience
First, let’s talk about the build. When you visit Savi’s Workshop, you’ll choose from one of four themes to build your lightsaber:

Peace and Justice (Jedi-inspired)
Power and Control (Sith-inspired)
Elemental Nature (inspired by the Force and the natural world)
Protection and Defense (ancient, mysterious design)
Each theme comes with its unique set of parts, allowing you to personalize your lightsaber. As part of the experience, you'll also choose a Kyber crystal, which determines the color of your blade. The four colors available during the build are red, blue, green, and purple.

The Kyber Crystal Hack
Here’s the exciting part! After your initial build, you can buy additional Kyber crystals separately at the Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities shop in Galaxy’s Edge. These crystals are relatively inexpensive (around $17 each) and come in a variety of colors, including:

Blue
Green
Red
Purple
White
Yellow

You can also purchase Kyber crystals from the Disney Store!

Simply swap out the crystal in your lightsaber, and the blade color will change instantly! By purchasing additional Kyber crystals, you can essentially have multiple lightsabers with different blade colors—all for the price of just one build.

The Savings Breakdown
Cost of the lightsaber build: ~$250
Cost of additional Kyber crystals: ~$17 per crystal
Total for a full set of crystals: ~$85 (for all 6 additional colors)
For an additional $85, you can have a total of seven different lightsaber colors, turning your one lightsaber into a collection! It’s a fun way to get more value out of your custom lightsaber experience while exploring all the color options from Star Wars lore.

Bonus: Kyber Crystal Surprises!
Some Kyber crystals even have surprises hidden inside! When you place a crystal in a holocron (also available at Dok-Ondar’s), you might hear special messages from iconic Star Wars characters like Yoda, Darth Vader, or Rey
