French Polynesia NEWS!

A NEW Beach & Garden Village will be opening up its doors on the sacred island of Raiatea! This island, south of Tahiti, is known for its cultural significance and is much less visited than Tahiti, Moorea or Bora Bora. It's popular with sailors as yacht rentals have their base in Raiatea.

In March I was able to do a full day excursion to the Blue Lagoon in Rangiroa. It was honestly one of the best experiences I have had while traveling. From my hotel we left on a speed boat ride of 1 hour....yes, it's not close by to get to this magnificent spot on the planet.

Please enjoy this picture taken from the air by the General Manager of the Kia Ora hotel in Rangiroa (Gerry). He is a super nice guy and keeps travel advisors in the loop with his monthly newsletters, which I always enjoy reading.

What to do on a 6 night itinerary in the Land of Encanto?

Here are a few suggestions:
Disconnect at the beautiful Cannua eco lodge, outside of Medellin. Soak up the gorgeous views, indulge in amazing culinary experiences and become familiar with the philosophy of permaculture.

Learn about the chocolate making process at a private authentic farm. As a bonus you will learn about Colombian flowers, plants and herbs at the farm. A visit to a waterfall may just be what will wrap up your day.

Visit one of the most colorful towns in the world: Guatape! Stroll through cobblestone streets, eat a sancocho soup, and enjoy the happy colors of all the houses in the town.

Visit a private flower exporting farm with beautiful views and eat an authentic lunch with the family and truly feel like you are living in Colombia instead of just visiting.

Visit a legendary silletera (flower carrier) in her own home and find out about the tradition of the annual flower festival of Medellin.

In the city of Medellin, visit the Plaza Botero to see several of the master’s sculptures and take in the hustle and bustle of the city.

Have a sensory experience at the Comuna13 neighborhood which is home to street dancers, freestyle rappers and many colorful murals.

In the evening, check out one of the many restaurants and bars in the Provenza area of the Poblado neighborhood. This is definitely a touristy area so you won’t be the only visitor.
