Both fly fishing and conventional techniques are used depending on the season and your interest. I'm thrilled you stopped in. If you don't already know me, I'm Evan, and with a pile of help over the years, I'm the guide behind the operation. The fishing bug hit me early in life, growing up on the banks of the Nooksack and nearby Skagit Rivers. Like most kiddos, trout was the main event. As I matur

ed, so did my passion for fishing, people, the outdoors, and more specifically, the fluvial passages that held mysterious and even mythological anadromous fish. By the time I attended Western Washington University, my excitement for chasing salmon and steelhead was extreme—it's a miracle I graduated (it took me six years to get one, y'all get the point). Beyond that, my curiosity took over and I was off to a life on the water, working in remote Alaskan wilderness lodges and fishing adventure yachts. Even when immersed in some of the most productive and ecologically diverse destinations on Earth, I'd still yearn for the floodplains of my backyard, with the Skagit being the apple of my eye. My life truly does happen on the water, and as a saltwater charter captain fishing the Puget Sound and operating a 20-car ferry in the San Juan Islands, I'm certainly happiest when sharing our beautiful river systems and their incredible fish with my beloved guests. Let's get 'em!

I say this about all of my favorite fishing seasons, but I truly wish we could swing flies for winter/spring Steelhead on repeat. Cheers to the fish, the places, the people… see you all next year!

Is the Skagit closed for fishing? No way! Here’s proof! Keeping up with regulations can be tricky, but we got you. WDFW did close sections of the upper Skagit last week, but the lower river is wide open for coho fishing. It’s only a matter of time until they re-open the entire river and until then, we’re “holding up” just fine! We still have a few fall openings available—call or DM to book.

While nothing excites me more than fly fishing, I also appreciate the importance of harvesting my own food. (There is tremendous value in knowing where your food comes from!) That said, during fall coho season on the Skagit, I use mainly conventional tackle to get the job done. It’s simply the best technique to land these nutrient dense gifts from the Pacific. Come get your fall harvest on—it’s the most fun you’ll ever have “grocery shopping!”

Hi y’all, it’s been a hot minute, but it’s me, Evan! I’m back, and so is Skagit Angler. Life is good, the Sturgeon moon is rising, and I’m looking forward to a fall full of river trips and lots of fish. Who else is ready? Let’s get ‘em!
