Travel Tips Tuesday!!!!! When traveling abroad there are many different types of documentation you may need. For example the United States issues both passports and passport cards. For cruise travel leaving from and returning to a US port you only need a State issued birth certificate and government issued photo ID.

The passport is the most reliable form of travel identification document you can have as it is issued by your country's government and all international governments have some form of a passport. When traveling abroad a passport will also allow you to reenter the United States the easiest, where as if you cruise with a government issued ID and State issued birth certificate you will most likely have to wait in some form of line to have you documents examined. Also If you plan to travel anywhere outside of North America via plane you will need a passport as the US issued passport card is only accepted at US, Canadian, Mexican, Caribbean and Bermuda points of entry via land and sea. It is not accepted for international travel via air. So in the end a passport is a great thing to have on hand when traveling as it is the best option for entry in to other nations and reentry into the United States.

Travel Tip Tuesday!!!!!!

Continuing from last week for our travel tips, when planning your trip keep an eye on the expiration date of your passport. There are some countries that will not let a foreign citizen in based if their passport expires within a give time frame. The best rule of thumb is if you passport expires with in 6 months of your travel dates go ahead and renew to avoid any delay or bumps with your trip.

Travel Tips Tuesday!!!!!

Here at the Bentzie house we travel a lot. Some travel we do as a couple, some as a small family of 3 and some travel we take the whole bunch and travel as a family of 8. With each group there are different concerns and hiccups we have worked through.

So in a new series of posts we are going to help you have a more streamline and smooth travel journey. We are going to call it Bentie's Travel Tips Tuesday.

So tip number one!!!!!! Start planning early and be organized about. When the Bentzie bunch travels we keep all documentation in a organized file folio. We also keep a duplicate copy of our travel documents in a separate bag in an identical file folio. In the file foli we have copies of our trip itinerary, copies of our government issued ids like driver's licenses or passports. Copies of boarding passes, hotel stay confirmation, travel contracts like cruise documents, duplicate cruise luggage tags and anything else we may need for the trip.

Today is National Maritime Day. Today we recognize and celebrate all those who make the sea their home away from home. Without the many people that work on the high seas we would not have the world we live in today. From product shipping on a container ship, raw material moving across the great lakes, oil products in tanker ships to the staff aboard cruise ships who make our dreams come true. Take time to thank them today for the countless days and months those people dedicate to keeping us fed, moving, talking and all the other countless things the Maritime trade provides for all.

Happy Friday! We have water! Lifeboats are coming back after refurb- remember lifeboat 6 of which I am Commander has an open bar and is now fully stocked 😂. This time tomorrow we will be doing sea trials. Filling of the dock takes about 24 hours.

The Beach Bum Family just returned from an awesome western Caribbean cruise aboard the Carnival Pride. Fun Fact Mrs. Bentzie and I's first cruise and honeymoon was aboard the Carnival Pride.

Aboard the Carnival Pride we departed out of Tampa, FL. and ports of call included Cozumel, Belize, Mahogany Bay on Roatan and Costa Maya.

This was the littlest Benzie's first time flying and he did great. Flying into Tampa he fell asleep about 15 minutes before landing and the return flight he slept the majority of the flight.

Some good news out of the cruise industry. Also for note Cranival along with other major cruise brands have dropped pre-cruise testing for destinations that are no longer requiring them.

Carnival Cruise Line celebrates welcoming 3million guests since restarting cruises in July last year. The total rose from 2million in under 75 days - an average of 95,000 passengers a week. The 23 ships in the fleet are likely to reach nearly 110% occupancy this summer (100% occupancy is based on two people per cabin).

June 8th is World Oceans Day. As fellow beach lovers and ocean travelers we need to work together to maintain the health of our oceans. The oceans of the world are a diverse and vibrant resource. They cover around 71% of the earth's surface and provide us with food, energy, avenues of commerce, and recreation.

Fun Fact: There are 5 named oceans on the planet and over 50 names seas and major estuaries such as the Gulf of Mexico and Hudson Bay.

Welcome to Travel with Beach Bum Bentzie. Here you will find some snap shots of my wife and I’s recent cruise. Let me fill you in on a little about myself, my family and my business. My wife and I have been married for 3 years, when we married we blended a family of 5 children and we also have one of our own. Prior to my wife and I connecting and dating I starting road tripping all over the USA. We have since traveled on a few cruises, some trips to OBX and other select beaches. I started this business to help spread my joy and dreams of travel with others. My goal is to help make your dream trip come true and check items off your bucket list.
