You know what you’ll NEVER regret?

Taking the dang trip.

I'm still reminiscing about my last Africa trip and I couldn’t help but think of how much travel has changed me over the years.

So many new perspectives, ideas, and inspiration come to me every time I take myself out of the everyday chaos and take myself somewhere else. I always come back with a renewed focus that only come from taking myself out of the daily routine.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your never-ending to-do list, stuck in a rut with the same old routine, or just plain exhausted from the daily grind, it might be time to pack your bags and escape for a bit!

There's something special about having a vacation to look forward to, much of the joy is the anticipation leading up to that first day of bliss 🤩

There’s something magical about this time of year! The leaves in Oklahoma are starting to turn beautiful hues of red and yellow. Especially the maple trees.

If I could teleport myself anywhere to soak up those gorgeous leaves and cozy vibes, I’d pick Vermont or Michigan because, let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to eat pancakes made with fresh maple syrup from a cute cafe.

It’s on my bucket list to take a self guided leaf tour through New England in the fall.

Two of my top recommendations for October are
1. Sicily:tourist season has slowed way down from summer and you'll still be able to squeeze in some of the season's last beach days as temperatures typically remain in the 70s.

2. Serengeti National Park's wildlife-viewing opportunities are incomparable, and visiting in October at the end of its dry season offers certain benefits. October is one of the Tanzanian park's warmest months, with average temperatures sitting in the low 80s. And while you might encounter a few short rain showers toward the end of the month, October is generally still quite dry, meaning you'll find fewer mosquitos and sparse vegetation – which makes it easier to spot animals – during game drives. The best place to catch a glimpse of migrating herds this time of year is in the Northern Serengeti. What’s one place you’ve always dreamed of seeing in the Fall?

Why would someone book a trip with a travel advisor instead of on the internet? Here are a few reasons 👇

👉Handpicked Accommodations: Without having to scour the internet with browser tabs toggled between multiple hotels, you can’t keep track of endless review sites that don’t actually give you any clarity. Third party booking sites are just that, 3rd party, meaning they don't know who you are, don't care and only want your money. I pick the best accommodations for you with your desires in mind.

👉Expert Recommendations: Whether I’m matching you to that lesser-known but amazing local guide or helping you decide which tours and experiences best suit your style, I’m sharing insights from my personal travel experiences and my network of travel experts around the world. This worth sooo much, trust me, you don't have enough time/access to the same vetted supplier and resources.

👉Reclaiming time: I save my clients dozens of hours and weeks, or sometimes even months, of scouring the internet trying to figure out what to book and how to pull a great trip together. I think most people massively undervalue the cost of their time, you could be relaxing while I'm planning your curated trip 🤌

If you haven’t experienced the absolute relief and ease of having an expert take care of your travel plans, friend, I promise you, it is SUCH a good feeling.

Here when you’re ready to travel with ease!

So, who's lacing up their boots for an autumn adventure? Can't wait to hear about your travel dreams for this colorful season! 🍂✨

Traveling internationally soon and want to avoid jet lag?
Here's a tip I've adopted, while on your flight, set your time to the destination time zone, this immediately puts your brain and body into a new clock and so you can adjust your sleep schedule on the flight to match your new time zone.
I also repeat to myself out loud that it is now "x" time.
If you have a window seat there are some airplanes that have dimmable features!
This has worked for me whether I've traveled 3 time zones away or 12 time zones.
Maybe I'm crazy but I have never experienced jet lag.

What's one of your hacks to prevent jet lag?

The truth is, anyone can book a vacation. But creating a truly customized experience with no hidden costs, no headaches, no dozens of hours of research, a real human to contact in case anything goes awry, that’s why savvy travelers designate the travel planning to an expert 🧳

The insights I can provide especially for the four continents I’ve personally traveled in allow me to share personal experiences and knowledge that’s ungoogleable. Take for example the fact that your dollar bills must be of a certain year if you plan to use them in Tanzania.

Or it can be on a different note like where to find the highest number of baobabs if you’re into trees :)

I also have firsthand knowledge professionally handling emergency scenarios effectively and managing people through my long standing background in dairy and athletic training.

When you’re ready to stop wasting all your time scrolling and researching the best places to stay in Europe or searching for which country you want to do your safari in, I’d love to help, I know because I’ve been there myself, I spent more time than I’d like to admit planning my own safari :) DM if you have questions or to see if we’d be a fit to work together

Did you know you can experience safari life outside of a safari jeep? You can have part of your safari on horseback, on a motorized boat, on a mokoro (non motorized boat), walking, aerial (a must-do for places like the Okavango Delta), on a mountain bike.
Here are some reasons to add on one of the above:
Closer Connection to Nature: Out of the jeep you’re more attuned to the sights, sounds, and smells of the environment. You get to experience the natural world in a more intimate way.
Increased Wildlife Encounters: Being on foot can sometimes allow for closer, more personal encounters with wildlife, especially smaller creatures and birds that might be missed from a vehicle.
Learn About the Ecosystem: Guides often provide detailed insights into the flora and fauna, explaining tracks, signs, and the intricate balance of the ecosystem.
Enhanced Sensory Experience: Walking engages your senses more fully. You might notice the rustle of leaves, the scent of rain on the earth, or the subtle changes in the environment.
Physical Activity: It’s a great way to combine exercise with adventure. Walking, horseback or cycling safaris typically involve a moderate level of physical activity, which can be both invigorating and rewarding.
Increased Awareness and Observation: You’re more focused and attentive to your surroundings, which can lead to a deeper appreciation of the natural world.
Adventure and Challenge: For many, the adventure of navigating through the bush and the challenge of being on foot in a wild environment adds an element of excitement and accomplishment!

Did you know adding a helicopter excursion to your Botswana safari is one of the best ways to capture the raw and unfiltered beauty of the array of lagoons, islands and plains of the Okavango Delta?

Portions of the Okavango Delta are only accessible via air to get a close view of the animals that thrive in these permanent and sometimes fleeting bodies of water that seem abundant but then sink into the sands of the Kalahari desert.

Botswana is one of those destinations that require more thought with the planning because there are fewer resorts and thus fewer visitors than typical safari countries. If you've been dreaming of the Okavango Delt and the Kalahari desert for 2025, now is the perfect time to get started planning (June-August is the optimal time to visit).

A well planned safari in Botswana is a memory you'll treasure, but don't be overwhelmed by coordinating the inland flights, special accomodations, helicopter reservations etc, Botswana can a beast of a trip to coordinate on your own. Head to my bio to schedule a consult! I can't wait to curate your bucket list adventure :)

Spotting a leopard on safari is often a highlight of the trip. Remember, leopards are elusive - they're solitary, they're shy, they're nocturnal and they've got excellent camouflage, which blends in with wherever they're lurking. All of which makes leopards difficult to see in the wild.

Having the right guide will infinitely increase your chances of seeing a leopard, these guides have the training and hands on experience guiding you in the right direction of these magnificent cats. The suppliers I work with are specialists in Africa and you will be in great hands on your bucket list trip to see as many animals as possible and get the first hand knowledge from them about their behaviors etc, they essentially a walking encyclopedia (err google these days :))

On my safaris, the leopards have mostly been in trees or in taller grasses which makes them harder to spot for an untrained eye.

One tip though: sometimes it's better to capture this memory with your heart and soul than fumbling looking for your camera or phone; they can disappear in an instant.

1. Barbados: tropical beaches, gorgeous waters to surf on, the birthplace of rum, and its exciting pirate history, there is a whole myriad of reasons to visit
2. Turks and Caicos: the perfect antidote for your hectic lifestyle: blindingly white sand fringed by shimmering azure water, colorful coral reefs
3. Antigua and Barbuda: fabulous beaches, but there's plenty to keep you occupied away from the sand, from rainforest adventures and boat trips to heritage sites and cooking classes
4. The British Virgin Islands: aside from the breathtaking beaches, this secluded pocket of paradise boasts wildlife-rich rainforests, lush green peaks and a snorkeler's dream
5. Cayman Islands: marine life, flora and fauna to museums and cultural locales, Grand Cayman is the Grand Dame of the Caribbean

Which of these will you visit first? Drop your favorite number in the comments :)

5 tips to make the most of your All-Inclusive vacation 🏖

1. Use a beach bag as your carry-on instead of a purse. Pack sunscreen, swimsuit, and reef-safe sunscreen in it so when you arrive at your destination you have everything you need to get your vacay started. Important if you have an early flight because maybe your room will not be ready when you arrive. If so, you can drop your bags with the bellman and head to the pool while you wait!

2. Drink up. At All-Inclusive resorts, drinks are included, but there may be an upcharge for top-shelf liquors. Be sure to read the
fine print. If you are having your drinks delivered to you by the pool, ask for an extra glass of ice on the side. It gets hot hanging out in the sun, and the extra ice will help cool your drink down when it arrives. Another option is to bring your Stanley or other insulated cup, not as pretty but your drink will stay cold.

3. Get ready to enjoy lots of delicious food. There will be multiple restaurants throughout the resort, each featuring a different cuisine. Is there a specific restaurant at which you want to dine? Be sure to make your reservations as soon as you arrive at your destination. Prime dining times will fill up quickly. You will also want to know what the dress code for specialty restaurants is.

4. Take advantage of the resort activities. Sunrise Yoga on the beach. Cannonball contests at the pool. Evening shows in the theater. Non-motorized water sports are also included in your vacation. Stand Up Paddleboarding, anyone? Always wanted to learn how to SCUBA dive?

5. Pick the right resort. Are you looking for quiet areas or does being around people energize you? Are activities or food more important? Are you looking for a romantic destination or one that caters to families? Think of your favorite travel advisor (me) as your “resort matchmaker.” I will take all of your considerations in mind and send you to the perfect destination.

By following these tips, you’ll be making the most of your All-Inclusive vacation in no time! Ready to pack your bags? I can't wait to match you with the resort that most fits your vacation desires.

Curious about how to spend a long layover in Doha, Qatar? Whether you have 3 hours or 13, I have suggestions to keep you entertained/or where to rest. To leave the airport you must have at least a 6 hour layover. If you have less than 6 hours, you can enjoy shopping at the luxury retailers, experience fine dining, explore the art installations inside the airport, take a leisurely stroll inside the forest, or sleep in one of the complimentary designated resting rooms. If you are leaving the airport, there are city tours that last for 3 hours or you can ride off into the desert for 4 hours and enjoy a wonderful meal. Here I am, in the forest inside the airport, a great place to have a picnic, relax etc. I didn’t check a bag so I was carrying double duty. I should also note that checking back in after leaving the airport was a breeze, from entry to exiting security took less than 10 minutes thanks to Hamad International Airport’s advanced technology which includes passport readers, automated cameras that adjust to take your picture etc, it’s a relaxed environment that is sure to put your mind at ease when traveling. Caribbean cuisine is a tantalizing fusion of flavors influenced by the diverse cultural heritage of the region. From the vibrant spices of India to the savory techniques of Africa, and the indigenous ingredients of the Caribbean islands,
the culinary landscape is as rich and diverse as its people. From jerk chicken in Jamaica to curry goat in Trinidad and Tobago, the bold and fiery flavors are a hallmark of Caribbean cooking. Thanks to the abundance of coastal resources, seafood plays a prominent role in Caribbean cuisine. Freshly caught fish, lobster, shrimp, and conch are transformed into mouthwatering dishes, often prepared with a medley of herbs, citrus, and tropical fruits. Indulge in the rich tapestry of flavors that Caribbean cuisine offers.

The best part is, you can sample an array of Caribbean cuisines by going on a cruise. Multiple countries in one trip is a fantastic choice for foodies!

Amboseli National Park in southern Kenya formerly known as Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve dates back 1500 years ago. Amboseli comes from a Maasai word meaning salty dust and it is one of the best places in Africa for elephant viewing.

Amboseli features an array of habitats including woodlands, savannah, wetlands with sulphur springs and the dried up bed of Lake Amboseli.

It is one of the best wildlife destinations in the world with over 400 species of birds, many of these are water birds like pelicans, hamerkop, kingfisher and 47 raptor species.

The best time to visit is June-October and January-February, which is the dry season.

February 14 is around the corner, do you have something planned for that special someone?

Roses are red, the Caribbean’s blue, there’s nothing more romantic than a hotel suite for two.

Traveling with your partner provides an opportunity to not only experience new places and cultures together and allows you to see more sides of their personality. So this year, plan an adventure instead of a dinner reservation.
When you choose Wick Travel to customize your romantic getaway you get personalized service from planning to post-trip feedback.

Here are 3 ideas:
1. View the Northern Lights at Thingvellir National Park, Iceland. Valentine's Day is a great time because September-March are the longest nights. The collisions between solar particles and the Earth's magnetic field happen more frequently around the vernal equinox. Be sure to spend a few days in Reykjavik to see the Golden Circle and the Blue Lagoon.
2. Wow your honey by taking a trip to Verona, Italy, the city of lovers ( the home of Romeo and Juliet). Check out the hearts festival during February featuring free concerts, movie-kiss recreation contest, and public reading of the most romantic readings to Juliet from letters around the world.
3. Splurge on a trip to St. Barts to surround you and your partner in luxury hotels, and powdery beaches. Top it off with al fresco dining, private Caribbean BBQ and French wine.

Which one of these would you like most? Save this post for when you plan your romantic escape, whether that's in February or the rest of the year.

Here's your cue to experience Rwanda
1. Undeniable beauty in the land of 1000 hills
2. Easy access to other East Africa countries like Tanzania and Kenya
3. Clean, safe, and orderly
4. Shopping: local arts and crafts, tea/coffee
5. Excellent divers wildlife, primates, particularly mountain gorillas & Big 5
6. Friendly and humble people
7. Wide range of landscapes: lakes, savannas, jungles and volcanoes
Rwanda is quite often visited for the mountain gorilla experience in the north by Volcanoes National Park, bordering Uganda and the DRC. A great way to take in more of what Rwanda has to offer is by flying into Kigali to explore the city and taking in the vibrant arts scene then driving north for the gorilla trekking and depending on the next activity, consider flying out to save time. Have you considered gorilla trekking while in East Africa?

Gorilla trekking involves going on a guided hike through dense rainforest to spend time with a specific gorilla troop in their natural environment. Visiting thеse еnigmаtiс and beautiful creatures is a life-changing experience.

Mountain gorillas can only be found in the Virunga Massif, a volcanic mountain range covering the border region between Rwanda, the DRC and Uganda meet.

Mountain gorillas are on the critically endangered list with only a little over one thousand left in the world. This experience is sure to be one you will remember for decades. Be sure to plan this at least 6 months or more in advance of your desired travel date as there are only a small number of permits allowed per day as to minimize the human impact on these gorillas. DM me for questions or find the Calendly link in my bio to get started planning this once in a lifetime adventure!!
