What started off as a way for me to stay at home with our boys when they were all young and hopefully earn some supplemental income for our household, has grown to be a ”Million Dollar Agency” with annual sales of at least that. As we start our busy season here at GET LOST Travell, I wanted to give you your annual FYI rundown on why it is to your benefit to work with us and why we would love to work with you:
MONEY: Most people assume that it will cost you money to work with a travel advisor. When in reality we are paid commission by the various hotels, resorts, tour and travel operators that we work with. So, it doesn’t cost you a red cent extra to book with us and yet you are still supporting a small business who truly cares about their clients over an online booking giant that you are just a number to. (Fun fact: those commissions are all built into the pricing you see online as a consumer anyways. So, you’re paying for customer service that you are not going to get)
CUSTOMER CARE: Rather than cross your fingers and hope that “Call Center Karen” is in a good mood that day, after you have sat on hold for three hours to get through to her - you can rest assured knowing that myself or one of my team members will be available at a moment’s notice to reach through a variety of different modes of communication. We send our clients to the airport bar if there are any problems.
PREFERRED PARTNERSHIPS: I have spent over 15 years forging, cultivating, and nurturing relationships with suppliers and destination management companies all over the world. Our agency is a preferred partner of all the most esteemed hotel companies in the world. So, when our clients arrive on property, they are automatically flagged VIP because they booked with us. Call Center Karen at Priceline cannot do that for you. Nor does she care. In fact, if you booked via Priceline or other, your reservation is typically the least cared about reservation on the books for the night.
LIFETIME WORKING FRIENDSHIP: The reason I love my work so much is because I know that it is a great honor to get to plan these vacations and adventures for you. You are entrusting me with one of the most valuable things you have: your leisure time with the ones you love most. It is not uncommon for clients to become my friends and I absolutely love that. I take extreme pride in the fact that I have gotten to see some couples from dating to planning their engagement trips, honeymoons and now their family travel. I cannot wait to plan that mutigenerational travel down the road with all the grandkids too. And for anyone asking, “do you still do the travel agent thing?” – to that I reply: till I’m a blue-haired old gypsy and beyond!”
A couple of disclaimers: We do require a $100 Good Faith Deposit to get the quote process started. Every penny of that goes back in your pocket at the time of final payment. It is just to ensure that our advisors do not do all the work and research in putting together an ideal itinerary and then the client does not book for whatever reason. The only true fee we have is a $35 per person ticketing fee for flights. The airlines do not pay anything in commission or compensation and are often time the biggest headache of an itinerary with the constant schedule changes, misconnects and cancelations that can incur. To justify the time spent managing this component of travel, we have this fee.

GET LOST Travel is so excited to welcome Sye White on board as our Enotourism Expert. Enotourism refers to tourism whose purpose is or includes the tasting, consumption, or purchase of wine, often at or near the source. Sye’s passion and enthusiasm for all things food, wine and hospitality is contagious as you listen to him talk about a recent trip to France exploring vineyards, restaurants, and hotels. He has dined at many different Michelin restaurants, several top 50 restaurants in the world, and has been a member of the Helena area’s fine dining scene for over a decade.

He will be leading small groups to different wine regions in the world, showing you what is behind a winery’s closed doors, allowing access to learn what they do and how and why they do it. He will be educating our guests about the history of the winery and the grapes that are being used in the making of wine, as well as be giving tours of the cellars, leading vineyard walks, and seeking opportunities to take part in an active part of the harvest. And of course, tasting a wide range of wine, sometimes with the very makers themselves.
