Alaska is a unique and surprising experience, one that our family won't soon forget. Beautiful, breathtaking, vast views of one of this nation's biggest states.
If you have an appreciation for nature, you'll be in awe at the grandeur of the fjords, monumental glaciers, towering mountains with snow caps and the Pacific ocean.๐๏ธ๐

For excursions, we did:
- Skagway - ๐๐ก๐ข๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ:๐๐ค๏ธ
Built in 1898, beautiful views as this historic train takes you on a climb to 2078 feet, 110.4 miles away from the departure point at sea level.
Catamaran ride for an close encounter with these majestic animals, then a relaxing atmosphere lunch 'al fresco' with an open pit, wood-fired grilled Alaskan Sockeye (wood-fired grilled ribs also served for the non-fish lovers) with wild rice, scalloped potatoes, salad choices, desert, hot chocolate and coffee, all included.
- If you'd like to see the glaciers up-front sailing through the Fjords, book the excursion for it. You'll see a few glaciers from the ship(specially if you have a Balcony) but the catamaran excursion will take you up close.
- We took a stroll around town in the city port of Ketchikan, did a little shopping and of course, I could not leave without treating myself on a King Crab feast! When in Rome...!"๐๐ฆ
- Victoria is underrated! Precious manicured gardens, with grand colorful flower blooms as spring time is here. Take a double-decker bus over to downtown for great dining and timely photo opportunities at dusk as the city buildings come to life with bright mini lights detailing the buildings unique structures.
- Oh, and if you happen to spend an extra day in Seattle, dine at 'Bacco Caffe' - delightful brunch choices! The Crab Benedict is phenomenal๐
We were very fortunate on this trip -
1. Perfect weather!๐ฅ๏ธ although the overcast is constant, there were plenty of opportunities where the sun was shining bright for long periods of time. The only 'wet' port was Ketchikan, which is perfectly normal for that city. As long as you have a good rain jacket, and some weather-proof boots, you'll be covered.
2. Take a whale excursion! Be in the close presence of these majestic animals! We had the fortune of, after a teaching lesson in feeding between a mother and it's calf, the sweet baby was on display putting on a show for us as it breached the water over and over! Playtime for the baby! โบ๏ธ
The Carnival ๐๐๐๐๐๐ is a great ship. It may not have all the bells as whistles but you gotta appreciate the unique decor and layout of this ship. Walking around the Carnival Spirit is like taking a trip around the world. A plus, probably the easiest ship to navigate and get around. Food is always great. The Nouveau Steakhouse was delectable. Service was courteous, fun and friendly. The shows were entertaining and engaging. The ship was over capacity at 2200 guests aboard(2124 registered capacity) and not one line for food or services felt overly long. The ship did not feel crowded at all!
The entertainment staff was spot on. Erin Weigand, cruise director, was the perfect cast for this cruise. Fun for all ages!๐
This is a must-do cruise, at least once in your life. We always like to visit somewhere new when we travel, but this is definitely a trip I would not mind taking again.
