We are soooo excited to announce that The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center will be releasing at least three sea turtles on Oak Island on Monday, May 9th, at 2:30 pm at the SE 49th Street Access. One of the turtles to be released is our very own "Aquamarine," a sea turtle that was hooked on a fishing line off the Ocean Crest Fishing Pier. We were called and were able to transport the turtle to Karen Beasley where the hook was removed and medical attention was given! She is doing great and ready to go home! This is a public, live event in collaboration with The Karen Beasley Center, Caswell Beach Turtle Watch, and our wonderful Town of Oak Island! We hope you will be able to attend! Please, stay behind the barriers, have fun, and help us wish these amazing sea turtles a happy journey home!
