I love to fly.
Glider. Small plane. Commercial airliner.
Fly a kite. Paper airplane. Any of it. All of it.
I never grow tired of the view from above + the engineering of flight always feels miraculous.
Yet, there’s nothing quite like a hot air balloon ride. This one over Champagne with my oldest daughter was a dream.
Perfect weather. Perfect scenery. Lovely father/son owner/operators.
Symbolism:
Rise above + maintain focus.
Beauty + possibility everywhere.
Innate ability to dream, create, explore + accomplish is within each of us.
Being in the exact part of the world these (lunatic)dreamers, the Montgolfier brothers, made ballooning a reality in the 1700’s, made this day even more spectacular. Manifesting this moment in time with my daughter was truly satisfying + unforgettable for me. Thinking of a special trip or excursion with someone you love? Just go!

This stylish + charming property offers a beautiful spa, pool + sauna - will forever hold a place in my heart since their thoughtful Concierge team ensured we saw the Olympic torch carried along the Champs Elysées!

Winner of the 2024 Hôtel & Lodge Best Design Award, this playful + sophisticated Paris Art Nouveau style property has the delectable OMA Korean restaurant on-site. �“I take my inspiration from the memories of cuisine in my childhood. 🌟Madame Clicquot, the grande dame of Champagne, was a brilliant entrepreneur + female power house.
An informative excursion for anyone, our mother daughter tasting here was poignant + inspiring - exceeding my expectations.

🌟The chalk caves, (“Crayères”) of Veuve Clicquot were a short walk from our hotel, Domaine Les Crayères. The tour included a tasting + dive into the history of this brilliant female entrepreneur, her challenges, and the sultry caves where the bottles are aged with artful precision + craft.

🌟Driven by her entrepreneurial spirit, Madame Clicquot created the first vintage Champagne in 1810. A true innovator, she also developed the riddling table in 1816 (which helps remove sediment) + produced the first known blended Rosé Champagne in 1818. These three inventions revolutionized the industry + became the basis of modern Champagne production.

🌟The crayéres also served as a refuge to many during WWII. Markings on the walls still remain (a Red Cross indicating a path to the underground hospital, etc)

🌟Today, July 19, a movie about the rise of the Widow Cliquot debuts in theaters across America ('veuve' means 'widow' in French).

🌟The champagne house was sure to inform us during our visit 2 days ago - some of the film details are not factual. That’s Hollywood! I can’t wait to watch it! How about you?

Reims, France (in the Champgne region) has a remarkable history: 32 French kings were crowned here, champagne first bubbled + WWI devastation met miraculous reconstruction.

Reims is where the Germans officially surrendered in 1945 + President Eisenhower signed the peace treaty, bringing WW II to a close in Europe. Next year, 2025, marks the 80th anniversary of this major moment in history.
(More soon: spolier alert - we stayed at Résidence Eisenhower after an amazing stay at Domaine Les Crayeres….)

Domaine Les Crayères, an iconic Relais & Châteaux + 3 Michelin key property, is a culinary escape for gourmands. Offering both the 2 Michelin star Le Parc Restaurant + Michelin Bib Gourmand Le Jardin Brasserie, both are amazing + breakfast on the terrace is elevated, yet relaxed - perfect extreme execution in balance: taste, comfort + every good quality or adjective you can conjure.

Happy Earth Day! As we hurl through space + time, I find the concept of wabi sabi increasingly invaluable.
In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi (侘び寂び) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience + imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent + incomplete”.

I was supposed to fly to Iceland today. Those of you who know me understand I am in sincere + constant admiration of this dynamic world we live in. I was so excited for this LONG overdue adventure with my travel colleagues + the deep exploration in the land of Fire and Ice, where this winter is promising to provide one of the best Northern Lights displays. Due to the intensity + volume of earthquakes occurring, we are rescheduling. I’m looking forward to sharing the incredible itinerary with you which included a gourmet food tour, Icelandic horseback riding, Gullfloss water falls + black sand beach, Top of the World snowmobiling, Sky Lagoon thermal baths, ATV adventure, Fridheimar greenhouse tomato farm + more. I was going to see Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site + the location of Iceland's Parliament between the years 930 and 1798. Thingvellir is also one of the few places in the world where you can see the effects of the North American + Eurasian tectonic plates pulling apart.  I’m coming for you Iceland - you big show off! I can’t wait to see your dynamic beauty in person. For now, I am keeping a close watch as we witness earth’s amazing, constant process which has been going on for a mere 4.5 BILLION years.  Perspective. We are stardust. Have a great weekend! 💫
