Y’all know I just attended the ASTA travel conference in New Orleans…. The hotel was located on Bourbon Street and let’s just say it’s been known that some folks may imbibe a little too much in the city’s rich “culture” and may need some assistance crossing the street, but… I didn’t realize it was so much so that even the city officials highlighted the dangers of face-planting while crossing Bourbon Street - as noted by this crosswalk.

I had the incredible opportunity to return to my home city - New Orleans - last week to attend the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) Greater New Orleans Trade Travel Pro Expo - a 1.5 day event designed for travel professionals to connect, learn and be “in the know” of latest travel trends and destinations.

Of course, no trip to New Orleans is complete without soaking in the city’s unique culture - rich history of music (although I’d have to argue the quality of the music at the Cat’s Meow karoke bar - and no, I did not sing - there’s not enough alcohol, even in the Big Easy for that), cuisine and hospitality!

Dinner at Mr. B’s was better than I remembered and the selection of Bourbon at the New Orleans Bourbon Society now tops more than 100 selections! And of course, any trip to New Orleans mandates beignets at Cafe du Monde! (P.S. - they even have a shop in the airport for beignets to go!)

Tour lasted just over an hour and they served about 5 hot-teas, mocktails, bottled water, along with finger sandwiches, scones and desserts while driving by the monuments! The souvenir cup was a cute gift. Excellent and friendly staff (who serenaded us along the way)!

We spent the day in Georgetown enjoying the French Market - and could have not asked for better weather. And we even stumbled by a bourbon shop with quite a Macallan collection (we'll discuss that more after our trip to the Macallen Estate in Scotland this summer).
