Did you know Anchorage is home to about 1,200 Dall Sheep? We often see Dall Sheep along the Turnagain Arm in the early summer months. This is the only place in the world where Dall Sheep can be seen close to sea level!

November 1 - end of April, potentially year round for the right person.

Duties-
Feed/scoop/pet 45 Alaskan Huskies

Assist with tours as needed, snow removal, helping as needed with race training activities, plus anything else that comes up.

Prefer someone with snow machine experience (but not necessary)

Positive attitude is a must.

Compensation - your own living area with toyo heat / running water and groceries. Small stipend potentially once tours start.

Alaska’s mountain goats are remarkable climbers, scaling cliffs and steep mountainsides with ease. These agile animals are known to climb up to 12,000 feet in a single day!

During the beginning of Alaska’s summer tour season, visitors are often fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of mountain goats perched on the cliff sides, displaying their impressive climbing abilities.

Some fun facts about glacial ice!

🧊 Glacial ice can be hundreds or even thousands of years old. In some cases, the ice at the bottom of a glacier can be more than 1 million years old!
🧊 Glacial ice appears blue because it absorbs all colors of the visible spectrum except blue, which it reflects back.
🧊 When glaciers melt, they release a large amount of fresh water into rivers and oceans, which can affect ocean currents and sea level.
🧊 Glacial ice can contain bubbles of air from the time the ice was formed. By analyzing these bubbles, scientists can learn about past atmospheric conditions and even the composition of the Earth’s atmosphere at the time the ice was formed.

The shareholder-owned business of the month is Alaska Exquisite Travel!

BBNC shareholder Carissa Larson, whose family is from Chignik, Perryville and Kodiak, started the business with her partner Jeremy Schuler in 2021 and began operation in the summer of 2022.

The company offers day-tours, transfers, and custom tours out of the Anchorage area. Alaska Exquisite strives to ensure that every visitor has the chance to see the very best of Alaska, and to instill the same sense of wonder and adventure they feel for the lands they love and know so well.
