Male and female Robust Woodpecker!
The difference between them can be seen through the small white and black spot next to the ear on males and the visible white “mustache” that extends from the base of the beak on the females.

The Gray-winged Trumpeter was one of my targets during our women birding tour in the Amazon. They were crossing the dirt road far from us and for a few minutes we almost didn’t see them. We were very lucky that day… even though they were far away I was grateful to see them! They are BEAUTIFUL! 🤩

The Snail Kite can be found in many areas in Central and South America but with limited range in U.S. Of all the birds of prey in the world the Snail Kite is one of the most specialized feeder and freshwater snails are their main source of food. Snail Kites bill is deeply curved and like a hook it pulls the snails out of their shells.
This amazing birds was seen in our 4 days extended trip to Iguazu Falls last October!

In the US, we love our country roads so I found this Brazilian route incredibly mystifying. Covered in fog, curvy, and cutting through the dense Atlantic Rainforest...I found it spooky. The idea is to find birds and the pace can sometimes get frantic, but it's also important to step back and take note of the beautiful details that we encounter. All we have to do is look. I invite you to join a dream tour in the middle of the Amazon Rainforest, for women only. Our last women's tour took place in the state of Amazonas, Brazil, in September 2024 and it was incredible. An experience that I want to share with all experienced and beginners birdwatchers. Come with us and together we can support each other in this wonderful world of birdwatching.

We still have spots available for next year.
