Property and Rental Info
This cabin on 110+ acres backing to the national forest will truly recharge your soul! It sits on the Sangre de Cristo mountainside w/100-mile views & access to some of the areas best hiking & alpine lakes! Rates daily range from $250 - $400 depending on weekday or weekend or holiday, reach out to plan your getaway! DRIVING TO THE CABIN WILL REQUIRE A HIGH CLEARANCE 4x4 If you don't have the right vehicle, backpack it! You can park at the trailhead during your stay and hike to the cabin (1.4 miles with an elevation gain of 1k ft). *PLEASE READ ALL INFO BEFORE BOOKING. THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE RENTAL* The space The initial part of the road to the cabin is VERY rough. Low clearance vehicles don't have a chance. Jeeps, SUVs, and high clearance trucks can make it. We can send a video of the route if desired. This property is run similar to the 10th mtn division hut system in that we only do monthly cleanings and do not provide linens. You are responsible for leaving it as you found it, pack it in, pack it out. For a great experience you provide: cooler, drinking water, food, ice (fridge does not work currently), sleeping bags, pillowcases (full linens if desired), towel, toilet paper, and a good attitude. We provide: an amazing cabin, generator power, running water, flushing toilet, cold showers, firewood, and all you need to prepare and serve food. *Please note, we do not allow single night bookings for Fridays or Saturdays during the summer, it's a 2-night minimum (you can book Thursday or Sunday to get to your two nights though). This is due to our limited seasonal rental window and the costs to maintain an off-grid cabin of this magnitude. Thank you* Guest access The 100+ acre property is gated and private backing to thousands of acres of national forest right out the backdoor. Other things to note Westcliffe is a certified Dark Sky City, we highly recommend you come ready to gauk at the stars as the views are ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!! From the cabin, you can bag a 14er (Humboldt peak) if you are an animal, or take a gorgeous 4.4-mile one-way hike to south colony lake for us mortals. Don't forget your pole, there be fish in them lakes!!! Or simply take in the views and enjoy the serenity. Your choice! We have a welcome packet that deeply details the ins and outs of how to run an off-grid home. It also provides maps of the local hiking trails and amenities. There is also a very detailed document to help you access the property. These are sent one day prior to your arrival.
