Dreaming of Portugal on this snowy day in New England

Portugal is an incredible destination with SO much to offer!

Porto is a big wine region in the North that’s amazing to check out. Porto is a beautiful city to explore and then you can take a cruise on the river in the Duoro Valley taking in the scenery while winery hopping

Lisbon is a vibrant city and so much fun! There are so many restaurants, bars, and cafes to try. There are great day trips you can take from Lisbon such as, Sintra, Obidos, Evora, and Cascais

Then head down south the to Algarve region including Faro and Lagos to experience amazing beaches and fun activities like surfing, kayaking, and hiking.

This is just scratching the surface on all the great places to check out. Portugal checks all the boxes of a fab destination to put on your ‘must see’ list!!

10/10 recommend a tropical getaway in the winter 🌴☀️🌊

This place blew me away! It was pure luxury in Riviera Maya, Mexico 🇲🇽 You fly in and out of Cancun and it’s a little over an hour shuttle ride.

It has 9 restaurants varying in cuisine & 7 bars. It also had endless pools and plenty of spots on the beach! The spa was so beautiful. The room, service, facilities, and overall experience was incredible!

I am here to tell you to put Copenhagen on your list!

This city was perfection! I couldn’t stop looking around and taking photos of all the buildings. It was pristine and adorable. The architecture was so fascinating. Everyone speaks great English and so kind. The food was great. Their signature dishes are open-face sandwiches, pastries, and seafood!

There is also just enough ‘must sees’ to keep you busy but also give plenty of time to eat, stroll, shop, and take it all in!

Between Tivoli Gardens (the world’s second oldest amusement park since 1843) & the Little Mermaid Statue, Walt Disney pulled a lot of inspiration from Copenhagen while designing Disneyland. It’s also home to Hans Christian Anderson, the author of The Ugly Duckling & The Little Mermaid ☺️

Copenhagen is the perfect place to check out for 2-3 days!

Manuel Antonio - the final stop of the honeymoon

This place was beautiful!! The beach was stunning and far less crowded and busy than Tamarindo. There are plenty of restaurants and shops. It is a little bit less walkable but still likely to have atleast a few restaurants in walking distance to your accommodation.

Manuel Antonio National Park is very cool to check out. Doing a tour with a guide is a must so you can see way more wildlife than you’d be able to find yourself! We saw sloths, toucans, a crocodile, plenty of monkeys, and more! Surfing is also really popular in this area. It really blew us away! I would also recommend this area for any type of traveler 🦜

Arenal Volcano National Park - La Fortuna

This area is a very popular tourist area so I didn’t fully know what to expect (nervous it was overrated) but it was absolutely dreamy!! The tropical rainforest was so lush and beautiful. When the volcano made an appearance from the clouds it was breathtaking. There are numerous adventurous activities to partake in such as ziplining, rafting, rappelling, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, and more. The hot springs in the area are amazing. We also did a coffee and chocolate tour which was awesome. La Fortuna waterfall is incredible but definitely worth it to go early to beat the crowds.

The town of La Fortuna had a lot of restaurants and shops to check out. Everything was within a 10 minute drive and Ubers were readily available and inexpensive. Numerous excursions do hotel pick up in this area so it felt very easy to get around without a car. They have hotels from luxury to budget friendly in the area so it caters to different budgets. It is also a great place for families, couples, friends, solo travelers, etc.

I would definitely recommend 🌋

First stop of our Costa Rica honeymoon: Tamarindo

It’s a very vibrant and lively surf town. It definitely caters to couples and a friends trip as opposed to families. There’s a lot of shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, and more to check out. It’s very walkable. It’s definitely busy which means there are more people approaching you and asking to buy what they are selling but they kindly back off after the first ‘no’. There is a big night life scene here. 3 nights felt like the perfect amount of time!

Top highlights: Surf lesson & Catamaran day - it was also the best food we had on the trip

Things to be aware of: restaurants on the beach ask tourists if they’d like to add a tip without disclosing their standard 10% is already included in the bill so just be aware and decline if you’d like to!

WOW...4 years ago today! I will hit 23 countries by the end of the year adding 15 countries to this list since 2020 and 14 more wonderful states to the list! Crazy to think about how far we've come but yet always more to see 😊
