💎 Hidden Gem Tip
Busy season for travel has begun, and we're working to full capacity here at Hidden Gem Travel. I had to take time this past week to renew my driver's license in person to upgrade to a Real ID. Let this serve as a reminder to do so before it takes effect in May 2025 if you have plans to fly domestically (don't we all?). This new law has been postponed a few times but all indicators point to the information below taking effect.
From the DMV website ... As of May 7, 2025, the U.S. federal government will require anyone who boards an airplane for domestic travel or who enters certain federal buildings to show one of these forms of ID:
→ A verified REAL ID license
→ A verified REAL ID state-issued ID card
→ A passport
→ Permanent resident card
A REAL ID is verified by a gold star in the top right corner of your license or ID card. Non-verified IDs don’t have a gold star.

The airlines are in the news frequently, typically negative stories, and the most recent news is major in a positive way! In case you missed it, when you fly domestically, you now have rights when unexpected events happen.
"The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has issued a new rule that makes it easy for passengers to obtain refunds when airlines cancel or significantly change their flights, significantly delay their checked bags, or fail to provide the extra services they purchased".

Happy Thursday Hidden Gem Travel community! I went to New York City last week as a guest of the Korean Tourism Board. There were three special aspects to this inspiring event. First, it was held at Cipriani which is an impressive venue right across the street from Grand Central Station, super convenient. Second, the food was excellent and third, the entertainment was engaging including Korean drummers, K-Pop dancers, and the acclaimed guitarist and film score composer Lee Byung-woo (check him out!).
In the main presentation, the head of the tourism board positioned Korea as a country where the modern meets with the historic offering something for every culturally curious traveler who ventures to Asia. It’s an ideal destination for a ‘learncation’ for travelers who want to combine a learning experience with the fun of vacation.

Keukenhof is only a short trip outside of Amsterdam, just beyond Schipol Airport. It’s a gorgeous property with a wide variety of flowers. Open from mid-March to mid-May each year, visitors have a short span of time for their trip. I highly recommend adding a spring 2025 trip to your calendar!
