CARE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

We are activists for the Surfrider Foundation, a grassroots organization that works to protect the world's oceans, waves, and beaches. We've helped to create a local chapter in Tamarindo, plus volunteered in Jaco, Puerto Viejo, Nosara, Uvita, Pavones, and Dominical by organizing beach cleanups, building and donating recycle bins, and supporting other local environmental and community groups. protecting sharks and sea turtles in Costa Rica and well as Community Carbon Trees, sponsoring one tree for each vacation booked. We are committed to promoting eco-friendly options for travelers, and will never advertise hotels, development projects, or realtors that maliciously damage the environment or the culture of the country. We treat every client with the highest level of service and work hard with our suppliers to deliver it. COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

In the past we have sponsored two local surfers, Leilani and Noe Mar McGonagle, who competed on the national surf tour. They were chosen for their dedication to the sport and the connection they have with their community. We also have sponsored Debbie Zec and Josue Venegas from Dominical, who went on to start their own surf schools. Every community in Costa Rica has some great athletes who deserve sponsorship, so we report their accomplishments on the website and in monthly articles published in Costa Rica (Ballena Tales and Quepolandia). We also organize beach cleanups, support the Costa Ballena Lifeguard Program.

I have been writing for Quepolandia for many years and Dave Bolger was always supportive of my work and even brought me a 20 year bottle of Ron Centenario as appreciation for my contributions. Thank you Dave for continuing a magazine that promotes tourism in Costa Rica and focuses on the environment and community from Parrita to Playa Dominical. Rest in peace..

Message from Britt,

Good morning friends and family of David Bolger. We will be holding a memorial service in this wonderful man’s honor on SUNDAY MARCH 2 starting at 3pm until sunset in front of BUENA VISTA at the main beach. Please bring memories to share and a beach chair. We all know Jersey Dave loved his sunsets, let’s send him off with a lot of love.

21% de bosques perdidos en 5 años! Que futuro queremos para Costa Rica?

English below

English
Costa Rica worked hard for decades to reverse the loss of its precious forest and made great progress. But now irresponsible development is reversing that progress. More luxury resorts, less forest…is this the right direction for Costa Rica?

This is why we need lifeguards in Costa Rica. The government has done nada to help this year. All of theirnfunding comes from the community. If you want to be safe when you visit the beach, consider donating to this worthy cause - literally saving lives. Https://lifeguardscostaballena.com/donate/

Thanks to Greg at Beachhouse Incognito in Dominicalito for hosting me at the start of my Costa Rica surf trip. It's an easy walk to the waves and a short drive to town, but still felt like I had my own slice of paradise.
