Up next is your lunch break at the national historic landmark, the Sonoma Plaza, which incidentally is the largest plaza in California. You might want to take time to explore the Mission San Francisco Solano, founded in 1823 or the Sonoma Barracks, the seat of the Bear Flag Revolt in 1846 for a bit of history of the area. Lunch is at your own expense. Did you know that Sonoma Valley is also famous for its olive oil and balsamic vinegar industry? Your next stop will include an educational visit to a working olive oil mill to learn about the history and production process of these two essential culinary ingredients. Of course, there will be a tasting session to finish off your visit to the mill! As if your taste buds haven’t been delighted enough, you’re off to find out why chocolate and wine pair so good together at your next destination. You will savor yet another tasting session, this time full of truffles, brittles, caramels and chocolates after a lesson about traditional chocolate-making methods and its connection to Sonoma Valley Wine Country.
