We are just wrapping up a month in the homeland of the Nuwuwu, Nuwuvi, and Newe Sogobia Peoples.
While here at Red Rock we’ve shared ropes with people from so many backgrounds and identities: LGBTQIA2S+ climbers, climbers of color, neurodivergent climbers, plus size climbers, indigenous climbers, women climbers, AAPI climbers, Spanish-speaking climbers, young WASPy climbers, old grouchy local climbers, German climbers, and disabled climbers (just to name a few!).
We helped guides prep for SPI Exams and AMGA Rock Guide Exams; taught a Women’s Rock Guide Course and an Advanced Rock Guide Course; mentored guides/athletes/climbers who run the All In Ice Fest; and had a hell of a time climbing with some of our favorite long-time clients from Washington, California, and Connecticut.
Thank you to people who belong to these lands for having us here. We’ll be paying our rent by donating $10 per client per day to Native Women’s Wilderness. Their mission is “to inspire and raise the voices of Native Women in the Outdoor Realm. To encourage a healthy lifestyle within the Wilderness. To provide education of the Ancestral Lands and its People.”
