Starting on Monday, July 10, 2023, the US-31 bridge will be closed to all vehicle traffic. During this time, a higher volume of traffic is anticipated on First Street and Maple Street, which is a designated local detour route. For safety purposes, parking will be prohibited on both sides of First Street from US-31 to Maple Street starting on July 10 and extending through the duration of the detour. We appreciate your cooperation as we work through these issues related to the US-31 bridge construction project.
Manistee County Tourism Authority has provided a detailed map for the local bridge detour route.

MDOT has scheduled the full closure/detour from July 10 until the week of September 11. A second full closure/detour is anticipated January - March 2024. The project is scheduled to be completed in April 2024.

Again, we appreciate your patience during the construction - don't forget to be kind and courteous to fellow drivers!

Ride the Pere Marquette State Rail Trail from the Trailhead downtown Baldwin to the Shrine of the Pines.

-from Baldwin, on the PM Trail, go east to Forman Rd. (Approx. 2.5 miles)
-turn right (south) and continue past stop sign (Baldwin Rd.) to 68th St., turn right.
-follow 68th to M37
- turn left (south) and go 1/2 mile on M37 to Shrine of the Pines entrance on left
