Richilieu Rock is covered in fish!! That's what makes this sight so special...biomass. Yes it's covered in soft corals and anemones of various colors which provide habitat for macro critters. Yes, you can see the occasional Manta or Whaleshark. But it's the sheer number of fish that make "The Rock" stand out. 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠🐙🐙🐙🦞🦞🐡🐡🐡

Due to dropouts we have a few spaces available on our March 5-18, 2025 Thailand Dive Safari.....

You'll arrive March 5, 2025 at Phuket Airport and spend 2 nights at Nang Thong Beach Resort in Khao Lak before boarding the Junk Liveaboard for 6 nights exploring the best diving Thailand has to offer, While on The Junk, you'll dive Richilieu Rock, the most iconic dive site in Thailand. It's covered in purple coral and anemones, and frequented by huge schools of jacks and barracuda. There's incredible macro life, and the opportunity for truly special encounters with manta rays and whale sharks.

Other scheduled sites in the Similans include Koh Bon, with the opportunity to see black tip reef sharks and more manta rays, and Koh Tachai, with its unique boulder formations and huge schools of fish. After disembarkation we'll head back to Nang Thong Beach. If you'd like more diving there is an optional dive package, we can arrange tours like elephant sanctuary, jungle tours, jungle river rafting or you can just chill on the beautiful beach.

This stunning fish, scientifically known as *Plectorhinchus vittatus*, is a true gem of the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific. From the Red Sea to the Great Barrier Reef, Oriental Sweetlips are celebrated for their striking appearance and fascinating behaviors.

🔸 **Unique Characteristics:** Oriental Sweetlips are known for their bold black and white stripes, with juveniles often displaying a yellow base that fades as they mature. Their full, pouty lips give them the name "sweetlips" and add to their distinctive look.

🔸 **Habitat & Range:** These beauties thrive in tropical marine environments, typically found in coral-rich lagoons and outer reef slopes. They often form small groups and can be seen elegantly swimming through the intricate coral landscapes.

🔸 **Behavior:** When not swimming in the open, Oriental Sweetlips are known to hover under ledges during the day. They’re mostly nocturnal feeders, dining on a diet of crustaceans and small fish.

🔸 **Reef Guardians:** As part of the reef community, Oriental Sweetlips play a vital role in the ecosystem, helping to maintain the delicate balance of marine life.
