Stay onboard or tour the island (see details below). Swim or snorkel at the famous Faraglioni rock formation. Optional lunch on the boat! You’ll meet your guide at a location close your Naples cruise port. You’ll be boarding a big spacious boat and getting underway to the scenic island of Capri, one of Italy’s most popular and a chic vacation spot. Your guide will be there with you for the day to
point out the sights of interest and to make sure you have a great time. You’ll be cruising along the Gulf of Naples, or Bay of Naples, which is a 15 km wide gulf that empties into the Mediterranean Sea. Marina Grande is the main port on Capri and the beach is the largest on the island. Your boat ride across will take approximately 1 hour so sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights. You will see many of Capri's highlight from the shoreline. You’ll pass the Green Grotto, a natural sea cave named for the green light that filters through the water and onto the cave walls. In the 1500s, this cave was used by pirates to launch surprise attacks on passing ships. Keep your camera handy for photos of the Natural Arch, which was created by the remains of a collapsed grotto dating from the Paleolithic era. From the water, you can see the Villa Curzio Malaparte, that was built in 1938 in the style of Modern Italian architecture. The house sits on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of Salerno and is accessible solely by foot or by boat. The Lighthouse at Punta Carena is the second largest in Italy and dominates the landscape. It sits in front of a series of jagged rocks lined with defense walls built by the British in the 1800s to protect Capri. After the approximate 2-hour shoreline cruise, you can jump in the water for a refreshing swim and a snorkel at the Faraglioni rocks, the three famous rock towers which rise out of the sea off the island's southern coast. Catch some sun and relax on-board (the stop at Faraglioni rocks is approximately 3 hours). This rock formation has been featured in many commercials including a designer perfume ad and resembles the much smaller arch in Cabo San Lucas Mexico. If you prefer to explore the island instead of the boat stop at Faraglioni, you can purchase your ticket for the 30-minute transfer over to Capri for 15 Euros per person. You can visit the two towns – Capri and Anacapri (located on the slopes of Mount Solaro and looking down on Capri). Or maybe you want to explore the amazing Green Grotto. You'll have approximately 2 hours to explore on your own before taking the water transfer back to the boat. On your way back across to Naples, those who purchase the lunch option will be treated to a chef’s surprise lunch. Drinks are not included with this excursion but can be purchased on board. At the end of your day, you'll be returned to your original meeting point in Naples.
