Did you know that many of the mainstream sunscreens can cause damage to marine life and coral reefs? Some sunscreens contain petrolatum, and it takes years to biodegrade and can be harmful to the marine life. Others contain Titanium Dioxide, when combined with seawater creates Hydrogen Peroxide which is also life threatening to marine life. Oxybenzone and Octinoxate can cause coral reef bleaching.

In some places, like Hawaii, it is required that you use Reef Safe Sunscreens. Always keep an eye out for the local requirements.

Pro tip: apply your sunscreen prior to going in the sun and wait a bit before getting wet. Reapply often!

Did you know?

Each May. thousands of turtles return to their original home to lay their eggs. The hotel owners, employees and tourists do their best to be respectful of the turtles who come back to lay their eggs, trying to ensure the safety of their sea life visitors. Some areas are closed off so that turtles can do their business in peace!

As if I needed even one MORE reason to visit Cancun!! 😍

Confused about CDC travel requirements?

The CDC has restricted travel into the United States from any international country by requiring a negative covid test prior to re- entry.

This doesn't mean that you have to stay home! Simply, these restrictions/requirements mean that you will be required to Covid-test in the destination. Many resorts in Mexico have on site testing. Some of the resorts offer free testing at the moment and others are testing for a fee. In addition to testing, many resorts have arranged covid care, should you be needing to stay in destination due to a positive covid test. What each resort offers varies by brand and date of availability.

The United States Virgin Islands are not considered part of this requirement. However, they do have their own set of requirments prior to entry of the destination.
