Hi Friends,
I’ve been off social media for the most part for several months, but I wanted to give an update on how fortunate we were with the Lilac Cabin.
August through September of 2020 the CZU Lightning complex fire ripped through Boulder Creek. It went through our little neighborhood, and although sadly three houses were lost, we were luckily spared. The Lilac Cabin is still standing, it burned through some of our fence but the structure was unharmed. The amazing firefighters in the area made a firebreak through our backyard and cut down trees before the fire could hit the house, which is what spared us. Hundreds of homes in the area were destroyed.
So many families lost their homes and were displaced, we decided it was best to stop renting the property as a short term vacation rental and rent to a local family while they rebuild.
After the evacuation orders were lifted for our neighborhood in September, we moved back in to the Lilac Cabin for a couple months. We wanted to remove burnt debris and rebuild the fence, but mostly get back to our community in the redwoods and get the house ready for someone who needed a place to live for now.
Thank you to everyone who reached out to check in on the cabin and on us. I feel apologetic that I haven’t posted any updates, but I felt the need to stay off social media and to just live for a while. I’ll let everyone know in the future when the Lilac Cabin is back to a short term rental. Until then, you can still always get me at 408.835.4796.
Peace and love and wishing everyone a happier 2021,
Kristy
