Legend has it that when the ancient Thai capital of Ayutthaya was ravaged by invaders, a soldier placed the head of a Buddha statue into the roots of a cluster fig tree at Wat Mahathat. Through centuries of history and countless upheavals, the statue remained unharmed. Instead, the ancient cluster fig's roots embraced the Buddha, creating a vibrant and mysterious sight that continues to enchant us today.

For over 700 years, despite being pressed by surrounding roots, the Buddha's face still wears a serene smile that brings peace to every visitor who gazes upon it.

πŸ‘‰ Cambodia was renowned for its silk-weaving heritage. However, decades of war, economic hardship, and the rise of industrialized textile production devastated the Cambodian silk industry and brought it to the brink of extinction.

πŸ’› Founded in the early 2000s, The Golden Silk Pheach emerged as a response to this crisis, bringing the rich cultural heritage of Cambodian silk back to life. With its consistent effort, the organization has sought to rebuild the entire production chain, from nurturing native silkworms to training artisans in traditional weaving techniques.

πŸ₯°Visit this wonderful silk farm and discover the step-by-step production process of this beautiful Cambodian heritage. You'll also have the opportunity to try spinning silk yourself!

This market sells everything from the tiniest screw to electronic items, motor parts, and household items. Notoriously named the "thieves market", this is the place where local people would go first to look for anything that 'vanishes into thin air'.

It's also the neighborhood of a collective quarter with nostalgic stories of Hanoi in the past.

πŸ’ How to stay safe around monkeys in Bali

Monkeys can be found in many places in Bali, especially at the Ubud Monkey Forest where over 1,260 long-tailed macaques call home. While meeting these playful creatures can be exciting, there are a few things to keep in mind to stay safe:

βœ… Secure your belongings: Monkeys love grabbing sunglasses, hats, and even phones.
βœ… Stay calm: If a monkey jumps on you, don’t panic - they’ll leave on their own.
βœ… Respect their space: Let them approach you, but avoid direct eye contact.

❌ Don’t bring food: They can smell it, and it’ll quickly attract unwanted attention.
❌ Don’t touch or tease them: It can make them feel threatened.
❌ Don’t run or make sudden movements: This might provoke them.

πŸ›‘ Follow the local rules and guidance from staff to keep the experience enjoyable for everyone.

Enjoy your visit to Bali and stay safe!

πŸ‹ Three whales spotted swimming in Thailand’s forest

Hin Sam Wan (Three Whale Rock) gets its name from its resemblance to a family of whales when viewed from certain angles. Beyond their unique shape, this geological wonder is estimated to be around 75 million years old.

Two of the three rocks are accessible on foot, and visitors can climb to their peaks and enjoy panoramic views of the lush surroundings.
