It is absolutely mind blowing to me that this very special and vibrant lightning storm over Mount Shasta and Lake Siskiyou was almost 10 years ago. I also have no idea who the gentleman was that was set up close to me, but his words have stuck with me all these years. I would also love to see his photos from this storm ā›ˆļø

Another pretty special day from my archives of Mount Shasta. This morning on 11-11-16 I was stirred awake early by a warm glow coming through my bedroom window. When I peeked out and realized the magnitude of the sunrise building over Mount Shasta I raced up the hill behind my house in my bathrobe and slippers with iPhone and Canon camera in hand. I took quite a few photos and then some video with my iPhone until it eventually dissipated into subtle blue and white skies. Since the images I took were for a panoramic stitch, the one thatā€™s in this video montage has extra content I added below it to make it fit other print sizes. Loose prints can be ordered through my website below and any canvas, metal or framed wall art can be ordered via a personal phone call with me at 530-859-2292 I really hope you enjoy this transportation through time to such an incredible morning šŸ«¶šŸ» KA

A local photo contest has me reminiscing over some of my favorite photos Iā€™ve taken through the years. This is a very real photo I took of Mount Shasta city lights and the Mountain with snow in 2010 when I first started getting into night photography. The pine trees and mountain are lit up by the crescent moon setting behind me. I am sharing in the first comment the original raw file of this photo. I absolutely love technology and fully support the use of it wherever it may aid us but whatā€™s happening right now with so many people posting artificial art and saying itā€™s real feels wrong. Iā€™m trying to stay positive on social media but more and more I find myself wanting to stay away from it because of how many times I feel like I and so many millions of others have been deceived. So here I am shouting from a mountain top that a lot of effort went into the timing and climbing to get this shot. And on this page, I will always be real. Although with that being said, Iā€™m probably not going to announce when I clone out branches or acne lol.

Came across this young man biking to the town of Gazelle for supplies the other day. I hope he made it. Captured a few other pictures in the area as I was going through. Peep his home built at the base of the bluff and the little house engulfed in frost laden branches.

Another favorite scene I came across and captured last week during the great South Siskiyou of 2024 šŸ¤. I love how much depth and detail is here. From the textured on the fence in the foreground, to the reacting to the obscene noises I was uttering to get them to look at me and then your eye gets drawn deeper into the background as the emerald green wooded hillside slopes up and disappears into the fog.

For best viewing turn your phone sideways, brightness up and black out the screenā€¦

The clouds parted just enough at twilight to allow the sunlight to kiss her peaks, melting the frost of her resolve away... "Too corny? Possibly the opening line of my new spicy nature novel. In stores never". Taken December 1st 2024. I recommend turning your phone sideways and zooming in šŸ¤—

Another image I took (with my iPhone) of Yaks burger shack in Mount Shasta the first night of the big storm coming in. This one is straight out of camera with nothing done to it except for a little contrast boost and the automatic adjustments iOS does. Iā€™m looking forward to other businesses in town dipping into the Christmas spirit as much as Alissa has. We all appreciate it so much to see our little town looking so festive and pretty.

I was downtown Mt Shasta this morning picking up prints at Pageā€™s when I stepped back outside and looked over at Yaks and everything was just glowing and gorgeous and the rain was turning to snow. The murals and fall colors were so incredibly vibrant. I was instantly filled with the holiday spirit. This is one of those moments where I appreciated my iPhone so much because itā€™s always with me. The Photoshop stitch was a little brutal lol, but years of editing practice came in awfully handy. Removed all the telephone wires, had generate rebuild the trees, threw in a pretty sky over the gray blob then added extra snowflakes up top to blend with the ones below and wala magic šŸŖ„ Now Im hungry for a yaks burger after all that šŸ˜‹
