Fans of the Haunted Mansion began passing around the story that the ghost bride's wedding ring could be spotted near the entrance of the attraction. The story became so popular that the Imagineers actually added a wedding ring right into the pavement for fans to find while in queue for the ride. The addition of the wedding ring has only made fans' curiosity grow about how the bride became a ghost and how her ring ended up embedded in the pavement!

An acquaintance from years ago just reached out to me. I'm paraphrasing the conversation some, but essentially it went like this:

THEM: Hey, you're a Disney coordinator. Can I have your number, we're going later this year and I wanted to talk about it with you.

ME: Yes! I'm a travel agent specializing in Disney destinations... have you already booked your trip, or do you need a travel agent to help you through the process?

THEM: I already asked for my days off, can I have your number so I can call you this week about it?

(I then sent a couple more messages explaining my process...I schedule vacation planning appointments to discuss budget, timeframe, hotel and transportation preferences, etc. I charge a $100 planning fee that ensures I get paid for the time it takes me to research proposals, etc....then I proposed a meeting time.)

Maybe an hour later I got the following response:

THEM: I work all day. Do you get any freebies on tickets or anything? Free tickets to Universal, maybe?

Please don't... don't do this. Don't be this guy.

As much as I love talking about travel, doing so is ACTUALLY how I make money. I regularly book travel to Disney World, Disneyland, Universal Studios, the Disney Cruise Line, and beyond...and there IS a process for doing so. I don't know a single travel agent that has access to hundreds of thousands of dollars of theme park tickets to just, give away. That's not what a travel agent is *for*.

We do a LOT of work to get you packages that meet your budget needs (as well as your EMOTIONAL needs!), and, we do a lot of legwork so that you don't HAVE to.

Did you know that the average person spends 40 hours planning a week-long vacation? That's an entire work week. And if you're working full time, that means you're trying to cram your travel planning in after the kids go to bed, or during precious weekend time. If you already have a sense of a) where you want to go...b) when you want to go there...and c) how much you can spend to do it...you can literally just drop that information into our laps and let us do all the legwork for you.

ON TOP of that....if something happens on your trip, you can reach out to us for help. I recently had a client who needed a room change. I was able to make a call for them to ensure it happened...WHILE they were in their way to their hotel. One less thing on their plate!

We DO get access to good deals and are ALWAYS happy to pass those savings along to our clients when we get them...but we're NOT a one-way pass to free stuff. Musicians and photographers aren't going to work your wedding "for the exposure". Artists aren't going to spend hours on a free painting for you so they can "get more experience". Your travel agent doesn't get paid by giving you advice on how to plan your vacation.

I've been so fortunate to be on the planning end of some really extraordinary experiences. It is a GREAT deal of fun for me, and it's made all the more enjoyable when my clients are just as excited about the possibilities I present to them.
