Our Pacific Pioneers hiked the volcanic gravel path to the top of Cinder Cone in Lassen National Park this week. We were rewarded with views of the Painted Dunes, Butte Lake, & Snag Lake; on a beautiful, blue-bird day to boot!

Our spring season of middle & high school adventures has kicked off with lots of hiking, exploring, and learning! We just had a really fun adventure along the Washington and Oregon coast!
Cape Disappointment State Park, Long Beach, & Champoeg State Park were just a few awesome destinations we visited. These students learned about geology, along with cooperation & compassion as they traveled together on an unforgettable adventure!

Oregon Conservation & Recreation Fund
We want to highlight the importance of getting involved with organizations that are close to home. Wherever you are in the world, there is likely a group or community project working towards conserving the natural world nearby. Do some research locally if you're interested in joining the effort!
In our backyard, the Oregon Conservation & Recreation Fund is working to conserve wildlife, habitat, and connect people with nature. From projects that could restore sea otters to the Oregon coastline to community science projects about bumble bees, this organization helps fund and facilitate all kinds of conservation efforts.

Southeast Alaska Conservation Council
Traveling through Southeast Alaska rewards one with some remarkably dramatic landscape views. Venturing through valleys and inlets carved by glaciers from a seemingly endless mountain canvas has a way of making one feel small. And yet, our impact on these places has the potential to be enormous. Luckily, there are people like those working hard at the Southeast Alaska Conservation Council to ensure this natural wonderland stays intact.
THE MISSION & PURPOSE
"To protect the special places of the world’s largest temperate rainforest, promote conservation, and advocate for sustainability in human use of natural resources. Inspired by the land, wildlife, cultures, and communities of Southeast Alaska, SEACC strives to ensure this interconnected whole exists for future generations.
To protect Southeast Alaska’s wild lands and clean water thereby sustaining an intact ecosystem, abundant fish and wildlife populations, and a unique Southeast Alaskan way of life.
We acknowledge the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian people who have been stewards of the forests and waters of this land since time immemorial and continue to do so today, and on whose land we each do our work and live our lives."

THE MISSION
"We support development that safeguards salmon: our reliable, renewable, and irreplaceable resource. We advocate for science-based decision making, precautionary management, and for Alaskans to have a voice in what happens to our wild salmon.
Alaska is the Salmon State. We want our great grandchildren to be able to say the same 100 years from now."
Every summer, we bring people to the wonderful state of Alaska. We are so grateful for organizations like Salmon State that tirelessly advocate for the protection of a species and resource that sustains, not only our own subsistence, but is crucial to the preservation of this special environment.

Did you know. . . 🤔 bears have really bad eyesight? When a bear turns to face something, they're probably trying to get a better whiff of its scent. In this case, that was the videographer and companions who did all the right things. They stayed calm and definitely didn't run. They said "hey bear!" These awesome animals also have hearing that is way better than ours. Plus, they recognize the human voice as something they do not want to be around. Oftentimes, all you have to do is greet them with a nice hello and they'll move along. 🐻 You can learn more about these amazing creatures on our Denali Dream adventure this summer! 🚌 https://greentortoise.com/denali-dream/
This bear just wanted to be a part of the crowd! Don’t worry.. they were definitely not interested in eating those ducks. There was lots of salmon keeping them occupied!
