As we wrap up Birdability Week, just a reminder that birding isn’t one-size-fits-all. And there's no wrong way to bird (as long as you are ethical + respectful of birds and humans)! There are so many ways to enjoy birds, each offering a unique experience, and none more right than another. The only definition of birding is enjoying wild birds! Here are just some of the ways we bird:
🔵Birding by Sight – Spot birds with your eyes, binoculars, or a scope.
🔵Birding by Ear – Recognize birds by their songs and calls.
🔵Backyard Birding – Watch from home, with feeders or plants to attract birds.
🔵Birding from a Vehicle – Great for birding on the move or for accessible birding.
🔵 Computer Birding – Tune into live bird cams and online resources.
🔵Group Birding – Birding with friends or a birding group.
🔵Solo Birding – A peaceful, reflective experience alone.
🔵Trail Birding – Bird while walking, rolling, or wheeling on a trail.
🔵Stationary Birding – Pick a spot and let the birds come to you.
🔵Birding with Apps – Use apps to help identify and track your sightings.
🔵Birding with Limited Vision – Focus on sounds, movement, and shapes.
🔵Minimal Equipment Birding – Just your eyes and an open mind.
🔵Mindful birding - Being fully present with the birds without a focus on counts.
🔵Listing - Tracking all the birds you observe.
🔵Deep Knowledge Birding – Dive into the science and ID of birding.
