Who else gets seat anxiety from Southwest? I am so happy to see that they are going to begin assigned seating! Does anyone out there prefer the surprise of what seat you end up in?

The research is clear and indicates that more than 80% of Southwest Customers prefer an assigned seat. These changes come as a part of our ongoing commitment to enhance the Customer experience, including faster WiFi, new in-seat power, larger overhead bins, and more comfortable seats.

For now, it's business as usual - we're working hard to meet Customer expectations and expect seating changes to become bookable in 2025.

People tell me all the time that “some day” they want to go explore New Orleans, either before a cruise or simply to experience the culture of the city. With non stop flights coming between Portland and New Orleans “some day” should be now! Who’s ready for a beignet?????

Alaska said the new service would launch in January and continue through the spring.

Last week I had the privilege to visit Atelier Playa Mujeres, an all inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico. If you are looking for a super relaxing, adult only, well done all inclusive, this is it! Here is what I loved about this resort:
*A large variety of restaurants, we did pretty well making it through the different options during our week and the food was great at all of them!
*The drinks were great too, and compared to other resorts we have been at they were the most consistent, meaning if you order the same drink at multiple venues they are going to make it the same. This goes for food too, the room service was equally good to what we ordered in sit down restaurants.
*There were enough activities going on to find something to do, volleyball, classes, tastings, karaoke, etc, but there was also a very chill vibe throughout the resort. Even though it was all inclusive I didn’t run into people acting over the top belligerent or obnoxious.
*The rooms! Probably some of my favorite rooms, and I really love that even though we had the most basic category of room I still felt like it was luxurious and it didn’t feel as though we were missing out on anything.

Last week my husband and I spent a week on the Carnival Glory, out of New Orleans. We picked this cruise simply because it was easy for us to get to after visiting family. I have personally been on NCL, Princess, and Royal Caribbean but this was my first Carnival Cruise. Each brand and ship has things they do well and not very well so if you are unfamiliar with cruising or if you went on one that was maybe not your cup of tea I would love to help you find the cruise that’s just right for you!

Here are some ways the Carnval Glory shined:
* Getting on and off the ship were super fast and crew members both on and off the ship were courteous, helpful, and most importantly had correct information.
*There was a surprising variety of entertainment on board such a small ship, and we enjoyed almost all of it.
*Our room steward did a great job and his towel animal game was on point!
*The deli and pizza areas had the best food on the ship if you could make it through the line
*the ship was decorated for Halloween and had special Halloween drinks which was super fun!

Places where the Carnival Glory could improve:
*Food! The menus in the main dining room weren’t super appealing to us, and then the buffet served… those same choices. We normally live at the buffet but this was small, most of it closed off at dinner time, not much variety at all. This ship just did not have enough food options open at any given time which means if you aren’t going to a main dining room you’re waiting in a very long line at the best options- deli and pizza. (the long wait time was true for both coffee shops as well)
*This ship is in desperate need of refurbishment with decor that was dark and outdated, and lots of small things in need of repair
*These were the least comfortable beds we have had on a cruise ship.

I've had a few inquiries about Alaska this week, so let's talk about how AMAZING this state is! People often picture standing on a cruse ship looking at the most beautiful scenery, which you can do! But what else can you do? You can
*Go fishing on the ocean or from shore, for an additional fee some tour operators will even process the fish and SHIP THEM TO YOUR FRONT DOOR!
*Go on a land tour on special trains that are basically all window to see Alaska beyond the cruise port! You will stay in beautiful lodges along the way. This is a great way to see Denali National Park, maybe spot some bears!
*SNORKEL! Believe it or not there are snorkel tours in Alaska! Wetsuits and other protective gear provided.
*Eat the most amazing seafood!
