Day 9 - Kilkenny to Dublin

Completing the loop on our last day.

We made a morning of exploring Kilkenny some more with a tour of the castle and a tasting at Smithwicks. It's such a charming little town, and we would have stayed linger if we didn't have big plans at the Guiness Storehouse!

My only goal was to visit the Gravity Bar to see the view of Dublin. It was so great getting up there and pointing out the places we visited during our time in Dublin at the beginning of the trip! What a super great city!

We then decided a progressive dinner was the way to go on our last night, making sure we got our fill of all the favorite things we had eaten all week. We had a great time saying goodbye to Ireland. What a bittersweet evening we had.

We are back home, currently getting ready for work, and still not really, believing the last week and a half actually happened. It was pure magic!

Day 8 - Ballymaloe to Kilkenny

We had a slow morning at Ballymaloe, which was so great! The breakfast was delicious!

We had time to kill before our visit to the Midleton Distillery, so we headed to Cork to explore and stumbled the English market full of local farmers and butchers! It's open every day of the week and I wish so badly we had the same at home.

The Midleton Distillery did not disappoint. It was a very cool experience, and at this point, we have become whiskey experts.

Killkenny is just about the cutest little town I've ever seen, I'm so glad we decided to break up the drive and make a quick stop here.

One more day to go before we make the trip home!

Di**le to Ballymaloe

Today we picked up the pace but only by a smidgen as we found the roads on this leg of the trip to be mostly single lane and difficult and VERY slow!

Our first stop was a bit of a back track as it was at the very end of the Di**le Peninsula. We crested a hill and the most beautiful scene unfolded in front of us. It truly looked like there was a green screen beyond the coastline the way the clouds and sun were revealing massive islands in the distance. Also, I'm no stranger to northern Atlantic waters and I have never seen the Atlantic look so blue and beautiful!

Galway to Di**le

The Di**le Peninsula is out of the way, by A LOT, but my goodness, it was worth the drive!

We left Galway early as we had planned to visit the Cliffs of Moher on our way to Di**le! They were beautiful, but if I'm being totally honest, our experience at Giants Causeway was the highlight when it came to the Cliffs of Ireland!

After a visit to the Cliffs, it was onto Di**le. We had quite the drive ahead of us and a Distillery Tour, so we booked it with only one stop in the cutest little Town called Adare.

We then found ourselves on Connors Pass, a cliff side drive down into Di**le that quite literally came out of nowhere and took our breath away! Both of us were left speechless and had to compose ourselves after the experience. It was amazing!

Once in Di**le, we instantly feel in love! So much so we changed our plans for the next day to spend more time here! So much seafood and pubs and honestly felt so much like home. We stayed at the Di**le Brenners Hotel, which was a delightful experience! It was walkable to everything and so charming!

The Di**le Distillery did not disappoint. It's a fairly new distillery started in 2012 with one of the coolest stories proving that if you have a vision you believe in, anything is possible! They have a delicious product too! I will be making sure we are stocked the second we get back!

I left a little piece of my heart in Di**le.

Sligo to Galway

Another day that was all about the beautiful drive. We just picked a coastal route and stuck to it, stopping wherever we found something worth stopping for!

Josj started to get REAL comfy on the left side of the road and the SUPER FAST speed limit, which makes for a little bit of a nerve-wracking ride in the passenger seat. He is THROUGHLY enjoying himself on these winding and narrow roads!

We were able to tour Kylemoor Abbey, what a beautiful place! I have said it once and I'll say it again, it was nearly empty thanks to our timing which had its draw backs but also it was so nice to be the only people in the church on the beautiful property. The garden, however, was only just starting to come to life. If it was full bloom in the beginning of summer, it would be a scene straight out of Bridgerton!

We ended our day in Galway, which felt just like Portland! Quay Street is full of Pubs, Resturants shopping, we enjoyed all three! Galway was a surprise. It's a beautiful city right on the ocean with a vibracy that can't be denied!

Another wonderful day in Ireland!

Day 5 - More about the drive than the destination

Bushmills to Sligo, the goal was to ride along the coast as long as we could! We had breakfast in Portrush, Home of the 2025 British Open, and then headed south.

If you don't know Josh and I, we are more likely to go the slow way than the fast way, and we did just that! We found ourselves at the Gleniff HorseShoe, again another place that I just can't possibly give justice to. It was stunning!

We had a great dinner in Sligo and called it a night to get ready for the longest drive of the trip!

Day 3- Causeway Cliffwalk and Bushmills

I mean, I'm not sure words can accurately describe the experience we had at walking along the Cliffs of the Causeway coastal.

We booked a Cliff Walk with the National Trust of Ireland that stretched 5 miles ending at the Giants Causeway. It was cold and windy with a threat of rain and we were the only two this particular day that signed up (so far, this has been our biggest flex, getting here before everyone else does for the peak season)! Paul from guided us down the cliff path from Dinseverick Castle (any GOT Fans?) to Giants Causeway. The pictures can't possibly do what we saw with our eyes any sort of justice! It was one of those moments when you realize how tiny you are in such a great, big, beautiful world! Our guide was so great. We had wonderful conversations with him as we walked along the Cliffs, and he shared stories of legend and all the science behind these beautiful Cliffs. I can't recommend this trip to the Causeway enough! Again, our timing, Paul even took lots of photos because he said he had never seen the Causeway with so few people!

We called the adorable little town Bushmills home for the night staying in an AirBNB hosted by Hugh and Diane. They were wonderful hosts! Bushmills is home to the oldest distillery in the world, unfortunately our hike lasted longer then they were open that day so Hugh sent us to Bushmills Inn where we found flights of whiskey and a fire which was just what the doctor ordered after the long hike! Dinner at Tartine was DELICIOUS, and a cute little bookstore made me look at properties in Bushmills. I'm sold on the small town Bushmills life!

What an incredible day we had!

Day 2 - Belfast

We picked up our rental car, got our left-hand side driving bearings, and drove to Belfast!

We took a detour and found some incredible views of the countryside! The staff at our hotel were the kindest, one of them even printed out a list of things to see at our next destination and the other sent us to Kelly's Cellars, a traditional pub, meaning not a TV in sight, only conversation is allowed and it was truly something special. Made some new friends who gave us so many recommendations and great conversation that it was sad to say goodbye.

We knew immediately when we got to Belfast that it was different. I know now that skipping out on the northern half of Ireland is just not an option when you visit as you will miss beautiful views and the kindest people, even in the big city!

Our Great Irish Adventure: Dublin

Day 1 was an overnight flight to Dublin where neither one of us got a wink of sleep despite trying so VERY hard!

We arrived and hit the ground running until we could check into our hotel. We LOVED our walking food tour around Dublin. It helped us get the lay of land and fed us so well!

Some quick stops at Temple Bat for our first Guiness and a walk through of the National Museum of Ireland rounded out of the afternoon!

The goal was to stay up as long as we could to try and right the Jet Lag, we fought naps all afternoon and made it to dinner with cocktails at The Bank and dinner our hotels Pub.

We managed to get a great nights sleep, picked up our rental, and headed to Belfast, feeling like a couple of new humans!

Dublin was everything I expected it to be and also so surprising! It's a melting pot of people from all over the world. It's tiny streets are full of life at all times of the day. It's quaint but HUGE and full of people who have so much pride in their home. It was just so special to experience it in the way we did!

🍀🍀ONE WEEK!🍀🍀

One week from this moment, I will be on a plane to spend 10 days in Ireland! I am so excited! I keep saying to my friends and family that it feels so surreal to think about the fact that my feet will be planted on the Emerald Isle. This place actually exists in real life, not just on TV! It's blowing my mind!

Now let's get down to business! I will be taking this time off (other then documenting every single second of this adventure for you) so if we have been working on a trip with me, let's get the details wrapped up before I go! Otherwise, we will get back to work when I return on the 13th of March when I return home! Unless I decide to move there which is actually a real possibility 😂😂!

✨JUST BOOKED!✨

I'm so excited for a multi generational family to board the Norwegian Breakaway in 2026! This itinerary is one of my favorites! Bermuda has my heart and cruising there to experience the wonder of Bermuda is one of the best ways to go!

This 7-day itinerary leaves from BOSTON! Yes, FREAKING BOSTON! It takes a trip to Halifax for a day then heads down to Bermuda where you stay in port for two days before heading back to Boston!

Cruising is more accessible than you think from New England!
