We traveled Costa Rica in three parts, and Tamarindo was our first stop:

This resort is absolutely everything you want from a vacation.
Onsite dining options, swim-up bar, beach access, local shops, bars, restaurants and activities galore!
No rental car needed- tons of options all within walking distance, and we used the transportation provided by the hotel for our roundtrip transfers.
Service was excellent, everything was extremely clean and well run. Food and drinks were served quickly and everything was so tasty.
There are multiple pools and restaurants. Daily housekeeping. Breakfast option included. Grounds are so beautiful and well maintained.
You can easily spend a few days here and have time to enjoy the beach, try a morning yoga class, get a spa treatment, or book surf lessons!

For someone who is afraid of heights, this zip line in Jamaica was fantastic!
It starts on the highest tier and each zip line thereafter descends until the final run takes you directly down to the beach.
I personally felt much happier sailing over the water instead
