A sanctuary of elegance and comfort. Namiri Plains by Asilia is a beautiful camp set in the remote East Serengeti.

This camp was completely refurbished and upgraded in 2019 and is a conservation initiative, protecting an area crucial to cheetah and other big cats.

We often get asked if kids should go on safari, and although we usually suggest a minimum age to take your kids on safari, our general answer is DEFINITELY YES!

Christiana and her 3 amazing kids traveled with us to Tanzania and Victoria Falls this May and absolutely loved it! The kids now have a strong affinity to the land and wildlife of Africa because of these experiences

Now, there are some things to consider when traveling with kids, and not every kid is the same.

- Do your kids get bored easily? then we can plan for shorter game drives and stay at lodges that are family friendly and offer many activities for kids.
- Are they very young and you don't feel comfortable giving them malaria pills? Then we can plan the safari in a malaria free country or zone.
- Do you have a small budget for your family safari? then we can suggest budget friendly destinations where the parks and accommodations are much more affordable.
- Are they picky eaters? Then it would be better to stay at places that offer buffet style meals or that are flexible on the meal options so your child will always find something he/she likes. .

So, there are many things to think about when traveling with kids. If you are uncertain please give us a call and our safari experts will advise you accordingly.
We will be able to adapt the itinerary to suit your family's needs or if we feel it might be better to wait a few years then we will tell you so and explain why.

This curious Banded Mongoose and other members of his colony were hanging around our breakfast area in the Serengeti.

These mongooses normally live in colonies of up to 20 individuals. They are gregarious and diurnal.
They have a strong social system and all the adults co-operate with each other and help rear the young. Although each individual looks for its own food.

It is so much fun and will be something you and your loved ones will never forget.

A boat or mokoro safari is a great way to experience the environment.

You will have different perspectives and ways to approach wildlife, different sounds and colors. Calm for some moments and intense emotions for others.

It will also give you a different angle for your pictures and you can play with the water textures and reflection.

You will see the birds around you, elephants splashing their trunks in the water, and other animals that come to the river to drink water.

Today, August 12th, we celebrate Elephant Day worldwide.
They are my favorite animal so their presence in the parks just fills me with happiness and amazement. They are so fun to watch!

Can you imagine a safari without being able to enjoy these incredible animals? We must take care of them and protect from poachers.

Have you seen an elephant up close? How was the experience?

This gorgeous bird is called a Malachite Kingfisher. The one on the first image is a juvenile. How can you tell?
The bill is black and as they grow, when they are around 3 months, it will become reddish orange (like the one on the second image).
The juveniles could be confused with the half-collared Kingfisher but the Malachite is smaller and has orange, not blue, cheeks.

These little birds are found on the margins of waterways, seldom you will see them away from water.

Kuro Tarangire is a charming, intimate tented camp, located deep in Tarangire National Park with conveniently quick access from Kuro Airstrip for guests arriving by light aircraft.

It is located on the banks of the Tarangire River and it provides a great vantage point to observe the local wildlife passing by.

The rooms are very comfortable, eco-friendly with a rustic feel to them that we love.
And the best part is the excellent team behind it! :)

The cheetah is the fastest mammal on land, reaching speeds of 60 - 70 mph (97-113 km/h) over short distances. While they can reach remarkable speeds, they cannot sustain a high speed chase for very long.

The cheetah serves a special role in its ecosystem. Cheetahs are one of the most successful hunters on the savanna but their kills are very often stolen by larger carnivores or predators that hunt in groups.

World Giraffe Day is an exciting initiative by GCF (Giraffe Conservation Foundation) to celebrate the longest-necked animal on the longest day (summer solstice in the Northern Hemispehere) and night (winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere) of the year on June 21st!

I think they are very graceful animals and can be very entertaining to watch 😊.

The particular marking around this animal's tail makes them easily identifiable...this is a female common Waterbuck. Unlike males, females have no horns and are smaller in size. Now...how can you differentiate the common waterbuck from Waterbuck Defassa ? The common waterbuck has a visible white ring surrounding a dark rump, while the defassa has wide white patches on either side of the rump. Waterbucks are typically silent animals but will use alarm snorts for vocal communication.
