**EXTREME FREEZE TEMPERATURE WARNING**
We are expecting freezing temperatures for a least a week. Please follow the advice below to prevent damage to our water lines and yours. Repairs can be extremely costly to you.

1.) Check and re-check your heat tape to ensure that it is plugged in and working. The heat tape generally has an orange light indicating it is working but should also be warm to the touch. The heat tape should feed out of your water vault and wrap around your incoming water line. Every resident needs to check the heat tape!
2.) Red Cross does recommend allowing a steady trickle of water to flow from the faucet furthest from your water heater. This does not require you to run your water at full blast nor do you need to run water from every faucet. The tiniest amount of moving water should help to prevent freezing.
3.) We recommend keeping your cabinets open to allow warm air to circulate your supply lines. This will help to prevent warm/cold lines from freezing inside the home.
4.) Remove outside hoses from the outside connections.
5.) If you have a ceiling fan, turn it on low in reverse (clockwise when looking up at the fan) so it can circulate the warm air that rises.
6.) If your furnace is not working, get it fixed. It's recommended that you keep your thermostat at a minimum of 60 degrees to protect your pipes. If you owe a gas bill, call the utility and see if they will work with you. There are several programs available to help. Space heaters are dangerous and do not uniformly heat the whole house. DO NOT rely on them to be a source of heat for your home.
7.) Insulate around your pipes and ensure the underbelly is secure which will help keep cold air from reaching your water supply lines.
8.) Make sure your skirting is in place to prevent drafts under your home.
9.) Notify your community manager immediately of any concerns.

We hope your families stay safe and warm this winter!
