It all started with an internship in 2010...

As a Junior at Alaska Pacific University I need to do a Junior Practicum and my major was Environmental Science so when I happened to “rediscover” the Alaska Botanical Garden it was perfect! (During my freshman year in my Intro to Botany and Zoology class we may or may not have been scheduled for a field trip to the Alaska Botanical Garden and I may or may not have missed it...) While I worked on my internship and helping to compile a list of all the plants on the Wildflower Trail and in the Herb Garden, I was also greeting visitors and working in the gift shop.

I stayed with ABG for another 6 years and did a little bit of everything, including answering the phone, running social media, membership coordination, volunteer coordination and even giving tours! Fast forward two years, I received an MBA and I’ve been working for the Municipality of Anchorage in an Administrative position within the Electric Utility Department. I’ve remained involved with ABG over the last two years, serving as a volunteer on the Spring Conference Committee and most recently working on development with ABG.

Over the last few months I’ve been looking for something different, I wanted more flexibility in my schedule. That’s when Brie’s Botanical Garden Tours was born!

I'm now excited to offer tours with the permission of the Alaska Botanical Garden to hopefully create something that is mutually beneficial to both of us. I get my freedom and the best boss around, the best office, I get to spend my days sharing my love of ABG with other! What could be better?
