We are officially open (again) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida! We were ordered by the state and county to close in March. It's hard to believe it has been three months since our last guest -- that was such a sad day for us!

Now that we are open, we are crossing our fingers for a safe and healthy summer for all, and we are looking forward to hosting people again!

For more than a year, we have been hosting guests from all over the world. It has given us a lot of pleasure and a chance to meet some really nice people. We have been grateful to everyone who pulled into our driveway, sat by our pool, and enjoyed the delights of Fort Lauderdale.

Over the past two weeks, some of our guests cancelled their reservations, which is understandable and expected. We want good health and safety for everyone, too.

Yesterday, however, was a tough day for us. We said good-bye to our last guests and temporarily closed our gate for a while.

We, like others, have been stunned by the changes over the past week, but we have hope for an even more beautiful future.

We wish everyone the best, and we'll be ready to host again once we are on the other side of this virus.

We feel fortunate today -- hurricane Dorian has passed us, with little rain and wind at our vacation rental (*phew*).

Now, Berkeley -- our golden retriever -- is waiting for more guests to arrive. You can tell he is relieved too!

We have been watching the forecasts and preparing for Hurricane Dorian. It is always a lot of work to prepare for a storm. We hope everyone, who lives or is traveling to the east coast of the U.S. this week, safe travels.
