We offer small-group and private walking tours in Rome & Italy's greatest destinations. We've received glowing recommendations on Rick Steves, Tripadvisor.com and the New York Times because of our:

-Group size: Small groups averaging about 12-14.
-Fluent English-speaking, expert guides
-Tour operator accreditation in Italy and the Vatican, meaning privileges like special Sistine Chapel entrances

-“Off-the-beaten-path" itineraries, like our Crypts Bones & Catacombs underground tour, visiting Rome's most underground sites.
-Speed and ease of communication, whether it be through our website to start a chat, e-mail, social, our call center, and more. If you want to get in touch with us, we believe you should be able to!

Just a short trip outside Florence lies one of Tuscany’s best-kept secrets: the Medici Villa at Castello. This 15th-century gem was more than just a home—it was a sanctuary for art, philosophy, and power. Lorenzo the Magnificent’s cousins once lived here, surrounded by some of the greatest minds and masterpieces of the Renaissance, including Botticelli’s iconic Birth of Venus and Primavera.

But the real hidden treasure? The newly restored grotto. Picture this: a magical limestone cave filled with marble fountains and intricate sculptures of animals from the sea, land, and air. At the heart of it all stood Orpheus, whose music could tame even the wildest beasts—a metaphor for Cosimo I’s reign, bringing harmony and eternal spring to Tuscany.

If you’re heading to Florence and looking for a cool day trip, consider this incredible villa.

Venice is unlike any other city, with its unique way of life—everything is done by boat! From ambulances to mail delivery, taxis to hearses, the waterways are the heart of the city.

While a gondola ride is a must-do (and for good reason—it's fun!), there's so much more to discover beyond the typical tourist spots. Venice has a rich, local cuisine to explore, which sets it apart from other parts of Italy. It's also famous for its handcrafted glass, lace, and artisan masks, all tied to centuries of history and heritage.

If you stick only to the central areas near the Rialto Bridge, you might miss out on some of the city's best experiences. But if you check off a few things from this bucket list, you’re sure to leave Venice with a deep appreciation for its charm.

Have you ever been to Venice? If so, what was your favorite thing you did?

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, aka The Met, is one of the world’s top cultural spots, with over 1.5 million amazing artifacts and artworks—ranging from ancient treasures to modern masterpieces.

If you’re visiting, it can feel overwhelming with so much to see—so here are 7 must-see highlights to help you get started:

1️⃣ Egyptian Art: This part of the museum is packed with ancient treasures that really bring Egypt’s grandeur to life.

2️⃣ The Temple of Dendur: A fully reconstructed Egyptian temple next to a serene reflecting pool. It’s also the spot for the Met Gala runway!

3️⃣ Washington Crossing the Delaware: This monumental painting captures a pivotal moment in American history (and it's even bigger in person than it appears to be in pictures!).

4️⃣ The Charles Engelhard Court: A bright, open space with beautiful sculptures and stunning architecture beneath a glass ceiling. It’s the perfect spot to relax and take in the art.

5️⃣ Young Woman with a Water Pitcher: Vermeer’s intimate portrayal of light and stillness is as captivating as it is serene.

6️⃣ Water Lilies: Step into Monet’s dreamy impressionistic world and feel like you’re right there in his garden in Giverny, where he painted this beauty.

7️⃣ The Rooftop Garden: A hidden gem many miss! Head to the rooftop for stunning NYC skyline views and discover rotating exhibitions.

Throwback to this video we made about La Befana 11 (!) years ago.

If you’re celebrating today in Italy, we hope you have an amazing day and end to the holiday season!

Happy Epiphany! 🎉 In Spain, the arrival of the Three Kings on January 6th is celebrated with parades, gifts, and the delicious Roscón de Reyes—a crown-shaped cake that’s part of the tradition. 👑🍰

Families gather to enjoy the roscón, and if you find the hidden figurine, you’re considered royalty for the day.

But Spain isn’t the only place where Epiphany is celebrated with food and festivities. In Italy, it's celebrated with La Befana—a kind-hearted witch who delivers gifts to children on the night of January 5th.

She’s also known to leave sweets in stockings and sometimes a bit of coal for the naughty ones. And in southern Italy, you’ll find sweet pastries like struffoli and zeppole enjoyed during the Epiphany season.

Catalonia is special in its own right, and so, naturally, Christmas here is unique to the rest of Spain. Here’s a breakdown of classic Catalan Christmas season traditions and characters:

🥸 Tió de Nadal: A decorated log with a face, hat, and legs. Starting December 8, children "feed" it daily, then sing and hit it with a stick to make it "poo" gifts hidden under its blanket.

👑 The Three Kings (Reis Mags): On January 5, Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthazar arrive in a grand parade. That night, they deliver gifts to children, who leave out snacks for the Kings and their camels.

🎅 Pare Noel (Santa Claus): While not traditional, some children also receive presents from Santa, a modern addition to Catalan celebrations.

💩 And then there’s the Caganer: a small figurine of a defecating man traditionally hidden in Catalan nativity scenes. While not a gift-giver, he’s considered a humorous symbol of good luck and fertility, adding a playful touch to the holiday season.

Learn about the Tió de Nadal from our Devour Tours guide Ariana!
