Our week on ANQ2 was incredible. There had been some cancellations and there were only 8 of us on board so the staff had decided to give us all our own rooms. The boat itself is stunning- gorgeous dark wood everywhere, and the hang out spaces are thoughtfully arranged and beautifully decorated. The rooms were perfect and the bathrooms are luxurious! Hot showers, comfy beds, rooms always clean, plenty of toilet paper- everything was perfect. The staff were always smiling and were so friendly and accommodating. They practically fell over themselves trying to make sure we wanted for nothing; we couldn't even carry a bottle of water upstairs by ourselves! The minute our drinks were empty there was someone there offering to refill them. Ali (not the cruise director, but a kid who was only on there for the week) was especially helpful and I hope Aggressor offers him a full-time position, as he was very attentive all of the time. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the pastry chef outdid himself every day. We usually had 3 or 4 options for desserts at lunch and every one of them were incredible- I know because I tried them all! It was nice to have Egyptian food and desserts most of the time, but occasionally they served something a little more western, which was nice for people who are a little less adventurous! We were lucky the week we were onboard because David Home, the owner of ANQ2, was on the boat that week. I am certain the staff would have done an amazing job anyway but it was nice to have David there to make sure things got done (like the hot tub getting filled with actual HOT water [our trip was in mid December and the temperature at night was in the 50's!], and to take us on a couple of birding adventures! Ibrahim was our egyptologist/tour guide and he was amazing. I think he did a great job of wrangling us away from the vendors and keeping us moving along, and he gave us so much information that we were all on information overload by the end of the trip. I love his smile and the way he always seems so happy. One of the last nights of our cruise the staff arranged a BBQ on the beach with Nubian coffee and dancing, which was super fun. There were costumes for rent for $5- it was a little cheesy getting all dressed up but I am glad everyone in our group did it. It was a lovely night and I am especially grateful to Ali, who explained a lot about the preparation and customs behind the Nubian coffee. It was lovely to sit on the carpets and drink coffee and watch people dance. Also it was really neat to see them make the hang out spaces (with logs and carpets, rugs and pillows). Everyone seemed to genuinely be having a good time and it was fun to see the crew let loose a bit and dance their butts off!
