Today was Grand Turks. It is another very safe and wonderful port stop. We did the dune buggies excursion and I would highly recommend! But this would also be a wonderful beach day as everything is right at port, easy access and free. Also a pool.

I get asked often about ports and safety and “do I need to pay for an excursion?” Ask a travel agent for recommendations! Todays port stop is very safe and walkable and plenty to do for little or no extra money. (Remember always abide by all aboard….keep track of time)
Puerto plata has shopping, pool and lazy river right at port (for cruise passengers only) all free. Monkey adventure is also right at port and $25 pp for interactive experience. Lots of photo opportunities too.
However a short walk (see map in photo) you can see some very fun and picturesque places and enjoy the local culture.
Umbrella street, pink alley (honoring women in DR), town square, amber museum, and lots of larimar. (Costs minimal or nothing) $3 empanada worth it! Hold the monkey for pictures $5 fun if you didn’t already do interactive!
All very safe and easy. Police are present and helpful!

We have this description in our family. Is it a “vacation” or a “trip”?
Vacation = relaxing (usually a beach)
Trip=make sure you see EVERYTHING there is and learn about the area. (Usually exhausting)

A relaxing day in Alesund Norway…a few trolls a little shopping and photos. And a few hours in thermal spa to warm up. We end the day with a beautiful rainbow as we leave port. Gorgeous!

Our beautiful MSC ship! And a relaxing sea day! Long day….sunset at 1138pM (pic 5)rise again at 352 AM! (Pic 6) For a wonderful natural wonder site in Geiranger Norway!! Journey to the top of the Mountain (must have coffee and cinnamon bun) and back down to get on a rib boat to see the sites from the water!! Absolutely MUST. Let’s plan your dream getaway!
