Vilnius Cathedral is the heart of Catholicism in Lithuania. The cathedral has a long history of being built, destroyed, rebuilt, added on to, and repeat, since 1387 (the year Lithuania became a Catholic nation).

I usually like to start with a walking tour of a new city. It gives me an overview and an idea of places I want to go back and see in more detail.

St. Anne’s Church was one of those places: a lovely church rebuilt with bricks from the 1400’s.

So if in Norway, why wouldn’t I take a trip to visit the Viking Museum (complete with Viking dinner) in the Lofoten Islands? Especially if you can walk out afterwards to the Northern lights!

While in Ålesund, I took an excursion on a smaller ship (the MS Bruvik) through Hjørundfjorden to Saebo for a farm to table lunch. Views = spectacular.

I had a short stop in Trondheim - Nidaros Cathedral was an unexpected beauty. Look at how those organ pipes are integrated into the design.

I loved this Bergen room with a view! The Magic Hotel Kløverhuset was so convenient to everywhere, comfy, great breakfast, and nice staff! (No affiliation - just satisfaction 😊)

Norway in March? Well, why not? It’s not mid-winter but still with a chance of northern lights. I flew in to Oslo and the next day took the very comfortable train across the mountains to Bergen. No snow in Oslo or Bergen - but plenty on the gorgeous ride across the mountains!

So truthfully, I don’t like shopping, but the food court at Harrods was astounding. This is a minuscule amount of the deliciousness there. 🤣 It might take me a month of eating there every day to get tired of it.

I am definitely not a “shopper” but we HAD to make a run through Harrods. Didn’t hurt that it was only a few blocks from the Horse Guards. 🤣

I know the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace is iconic, but it is also really really crowded. So after dropping our suitcases, we headed straight to where the Horse Guard leaves the stables on the way to the Palace. Maybe not as much pomp, but the same horses and guards and no crowds!

SO I recently took a weeklong trip to London and it was magical. If you are thinking of a winter trip, a city is a good plan - even though it gets dark really early, there is so much to do and see!
