Should you go back to the Caribbean islands you know this winter, or try somewhere new?

You’re spoiled for choice —there are so many gorgeous resorts and hotels, and each island has its own unique vibe and things to explore.

Here are a few questions I ask my clients to help them narrow it down:

➡️ What kind of vacation are you looking for? Adventure, relaxation, culture, or a mix of all?

➡️ What activities do you want to prioritize? Are you planning to just relax at the resort, or do you want to venture out? What’s top priority—water activities, culture, food, etc.?

➡️ What’s your budget? Are you sticking to your usual budget or are you splurging this time?

➡️ Who’s coming? Are you traveling with kids, family, friends, or will it just be you and your partner?

➡️ What’s one thing that would make this trip exceptional for you?

In short, the best Caribbean island for you depends on your personal preferences and travel style—no two islands are exactly the same.

If you’re interested in exploring some of the smaller islands in the Caribbean like St. Lucia, click the link in my bio to book a discovery call.

Let’s find the perfect island for your next adventure!

Fall travel reminders if you’re taking a trip this cozy season.

📌 Bookmark this so you don’t lose track!

🍁 Double-check for seasonal closures: Some attractions and businesses may close or reduce hours after summer, so check ahead to avoid any disappointments.

🍁 Be ready for the weather: Depending on where you’re headed, don’t forget to pack for chilly evenings and possible rain.

🍁 Don’t forget about harvest season: It may not be the main reason for your trip, but adding local farms, orchards, or vineyards to your itinerary can be a delightful bonus!

🍁 Beware of the foliage crowds: Popular leaf-peeping spots can get crowded, so plan ahead, arrive early, or seek out those lesser-known gems.

🍁 Take advantage of shoulder season perks: With the summer rush over, enjoy lower prices, special deals, and more personalized service at hotels, resorts, and tours.

🍁 Remember that days are shorter: Daylight saving time is around the corner, and daylight hours are shorter. Keep this in mind when planning your itinerary.

➡️ And the ultimate fall travel hack?

Working with a travel advisor who’s got your back (and your itinerary) covered.

Remember, my DMs are always open for any and all of your travel questions.

A little bit of honesty on this Tuesday morning.

EVERY hotel looks great in photos online. But when you actually get there, it can be a different story.

That feeling when you pull up to the lobby only to realize the photos are out of date? Not fun.

That’s why I make it my mission to have first-hand information for clients when they ask about a resort or hotel.

Either I’ve stayed there myself and can give my unfiltered opinion, or I’m inquiring with trusted partners to get the real details.

Things like:

👉 Whether the suites are actually worth the splurge.

👉 Which rooms have the best views and the least noise.

👉 Whether the spa services should be booked or skipped.

No fluff here—just honest advice to help you make the most of your valuable vacation days.

If you’re ready to plan, book a discovery call to chat about your trip using the link in my bio.

✨ One of the things I love most about traveling is discovering those unexpected little treasures that haven’t made it into the guidebooks or Google articles yet.

And the best part? I get to pass these hidden gems on to my clients, making their trips even more special! 🌍

While it might seem like I’m just out there having a blast (and yes, I totally am!), I’m also on the lookout for unique spots to recommend.

For example, when I visited Venice, I stumbled upon a fascinating museum that’s now a must-see for clients who love art and history.

Have you ever found a hidden gem while traveling? I’d love to hear about it! 💬✨

🌟 With the surge of travel inquiries for late Fall and winter, here’s a friendly reminder:

Don’t overlook the small details!

It’s those small details that can turn a good trip into an unforgettable adventure. But when they’re missed, they can also be the difference between smooth sailing and unexpected hiccups.

One thing I always do for my clients is meticulously TRIPLE CHECK every detail.

From coordinating airport transfers and securing early check-ins to pre-booking those must-have reservations and tickets, I handle it all.

As your travel advisor, I leave no stone unturned to ensure your trip is seamless and stress-free.

When you’re ready to have someone take care of the nitty-gritty for your next adventure, I’m just a message away. Let’s make your travel dreams come true! ✨

Not one for cliches? Skip the Eiffel Tower and north to the Champagne region. Enjoy decadent food, sweeping views of vineyards and just the right amount of romance. There are countless vineyards to choose from where you can pop the question. Opt for a romantic picnic and private champagne tasting or a vineyard tour.

I’ve always wanted to take a trip to Glacier State Park to go hiking.

For now, that one is staying on my list of future trips. So instead, I’m going to Colorado next week.

Fall is the season of slower moments — wrapping up in a warm blanket with a good book, enjoying a latte at a cozy coffee shop, or taking a quiet walk to soak in the Fall colors.

What are the small autumn joys that help you slow down and relax? ⬇️

Unpopular opinion: there is such a thing as TOO many activities when it comes to travel.

Overdoing it by packing your travel schedule with minute-by-minute activities may seem like you’re making the most of your trip, but can make things stressful.

My goal as your travel advisor is to find a balance between making sure you get to see and do the top things you want and also have breathing room.

One way we do this is to plan rest days in between days where you’re very active. That way you can make time for the little things like discovering the local cafe or strolling through a market without feeling pressed for time.

Do you like slow travel, or do you like to keep it fast-paced?

Let’s play a game! 🎲

If you had unlimited time and resources, which country would you choose to explore in-depth and why?

For me, it would be Scotland. My heart pulls toward the craggy mountains, the sheep and wool, the rich history of proud people...

I’m always curious to hear about people’s dream destinations and what excites them most about travel.

There aren’t too many things better than sitting back and relaxing while a private driver takes you wherever you want to go. No carrying luggage around through a train station, or having to deal with airport security, all you have to worry about is being whisked away in a luxury sedan. One of the best parts of traveling through Europe with a private car is the opportunity to stop at sites that are too hard to reach by train or air.

You get to see those charming towns, out-of-the-way villages, Michelin star restaurants, wineries and anything else you want really. The possibilities are endless. And truly, nothing beats the feeling of arriving at your airport gate and spotting your name on a placard held by your own private driver.

Ever come back from vacation and think, “If only I had known…”?

It’s the worst, right?

Let’s take a moment to reflect on your last trip…

Were there any hiccups or unexpected surprises that could have been smoothed out with the right guidance?

Think about it — whether it’s attempting a DIY haircut (we’ve all been there!), navigating complex tax forms on your own, or tackling a home renovation that didn’t quite go as planned…

You know the value of having a professional by your side who can handle the details and prevent those avoidable headaches.

Travel is no different. With an expert in your corner, you get more than just a booking—you get peace of mind.

So, when you’re ready to elevate your travel experience beyond the basics, I’m here to help you every step of the way.

And hey, this is a safe space — what’s a travel mishap you’ve experienced? Share your story with me! No judgment here! 💬✨

So, why am I still in New Orleans during a hurricane?

YOU.

I'm here in the Big Easy at a travel conference. I'm learning directly from travel brands. I'm learning new technologies. I'm learning about ethics and regulatory updates in the industry.

And I'm building relationships.

This is my friend Kallie.

Kallie and I have had a really great time becoming friends, bonding over our dogs and how great our partners are.

Kallie is my connection at Cunard.

You can book a Cunard cruise online. You can book it at Costco. You can call Cunard and book. And that's fine.

If you do that, you're on your own. If you have questions, or concerns, or haz vashalom an emergency, you can maybe call into a call center, get somebody who doesn't know you or your trip, and maybe get some assistance. Maybe they won't be helpful. Maybe you won't get through to anyone. And you'll probably be out a couple hours of your time.

My clients call ME. I know you, I know your trip, and I know how to help you.

If it's something I can't do myself, I call Kallie. She always has my back. Because of the transitive property of awesomeness, she has your back too.

I always say that I'm almost never going to be the lowest price for your trip. I'm okay with that, and I understand if the bottom line is the most important factor in your trip. If, however, service and value are important to you, this is the value I bring and the service I provide.

Do you have a Kallie? I do. And she's not the only one. I have a Tara, and a Rob, and a Betsy, and an Andrew, and a Diane. I only use supplier partners that I trust, and I have a strong relationship at each one.

All YOU need is a Katie.

Clients are off to Antigua this week for a couples trip, and I have to share how we chose their accommodations and activities.

This is my 4th time planning a trip for this client, so I knew we needed to get crystal clear on their wishlist, especially since this was their first time in Antigua.

To really understand their goals and preferences, I always start with a discovery call.

After our initial chat, my clients realized they wanted a trip to relax and unwind.

As for activities, we booked a sunset catamaran one evening and a day of river kayaking so they can enjoy the outdoors.

Nothing beats a personalized approach to travel, in my opinion.

Can’t wait to see the photos!

If you’re booking a hotel or resort, there’s one important question you need to ask 👇

This might seem a bit out of left field, but do you know if your hotel or resort is under construction?

Avoid the unpleasant surprise of hammering from 8 AM to 5 PM during your stay by asking these three questions:

1️⃣ Renovation Schedules: Call the hotel to see if any renovations are planned during your stay.

2️⃣ Noise Levels: Ask about potential noise disruptions and how the hotel is accommodating guests, especially at night.

3️⃣ Room Assignments: Request a room away from the renovation area, or if that’s not possible, consider booking a different hotel.

⭐ And the ultimate hack? Work with a travel advisor like me!

I make sure you’re in the know about all the details of your trip. Contact me on my website, betterkatethannever.com!

Hands up if you’re celebrating a milestone anniversary in 2025! 🙋

Whether it’s five, ten, or fifteen years, there’s one thing that always reignites the spark in a relationship — quality time together in a gorgeous location, trying new things as a couple.

When you’re caught in the craziness of everyday life, the good things that nurture a relationship can start falling lower on the priority list. Celebrating an anniversary with travel gives you the opportunity to start putting your relationship first again and to remember all of the great things you’ve accomplished together. Maybe it’s a weekend getaway, a week away somewhere exotic, or a more lengthy adventure you two have always had on your bucket list. What’s your next big anniversary milestone?

06/09/2024

Here’s the thing about booking your vacation on a site like Expedia or Trivago versus working with me to plan your trip.

We’re both a connection point between you and the various elements of your trip—things like your hotel or resort, your transportation, and the tours and experiences you book.

But here’s where things are different:

➡️ When you book online: You get passive support, leaving you mostly responsible for managing your booking.

When you plan with me: I’m an active, involved partner in your trip. You’re never left to figure it out on your own.

➡️ When you book online: If things don’t go according to plan, you’re directed to the airline, hotel, or tour company to sit on hold and navigate the situation.

When you plan with me: You always have someone who can step in to assist. I know exactly who to call for support, so you don’t have to waste time sitting on hold.

➡️ When you book online: You’re getting hotel, resort, and tour suggestions based on what a search algorithm thinks you should see. Often, the options that appear first are the ones that have paid to be more visible.

When you plan with me: You’re getting unbiased, personalized recommendations based on your unique travel preferences and what truly makes sense for the type of trip you want to take.

These are just a few ways I’m different from booking online. If you’re curious whether working with me makes sense for your next trip, don’t hesitate to reach out to me!
