As I sit here on our last day of vacation, I’m smiling happily thinking of the fun my family and I had in this beautiful country of the Dominican Republic. It’s our second time visiting, so I have some thoughts about our experiences this time verses last year.

We stayed in a different area of the country, the far east side close to where the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea meet. The water was a perfect turquoise blue and clear of any sea w**d like we experienced last time.

Our resort is called the Royalton Punta Cana. The Royalton brand is all over the Caribbean and Mexico and it’s owned by Marriott. It’s an all inclusive resort with LOTS of amenities. They offer an upgrade to the “Diamond Club”, which we indulged in. The Diamond Club provides a personal butler, preferred room location, private events, elevated cuisine and discounts on excursions and special services.

Our private butler, Nelio, was awesome! He took care of us and was always available with anything that we needed.

When staying at the Royalton resort, guests have exchange privileges with complimentary transportation to visit other Royalton properties.

This vacation, we enjoyed the spa, the gym, exercise classes, fine dining, a private beach dinner for Diamond Club guests, the Splash Water Park, food & drink carts scattered around the resort, and phenomenal service. The Dominican people are so kind and gracious. They love the tourists and thrive off of tourism that brings people here from all over the world! We met people from England, India, Cuba, Texas, Iowa, Michigan, Florida, and we even ran into a large group from Cleveland, Ohio (my backyard)!

This resort is very family oriented with people from babies on up! We saw LOTS of people with rafts and floats for the pools and people just enjoying the beautiful sites and sounds of the resort. They offer non motorized water sports included in the reservation such as kayaking and other beach experiences.

This beach, unlike last year, is public. This means that the vendors are permitted to walk to beach selling their goods. Although we didn’t purchase anything from them, they were very kind and not at all pushy. They sold everything from jewelry to wood carvings and everything in between. We had many conversations with the vendors and they were very nice to talk to.

At the resort, most people here speak English. Our butler and other management employees speak VERY good English. The housekeeping and others in the restaurants speak very little English, but our minimal Spanish was sufficient to communicate with them all.

It’s common that the resort pools close by 6pm, because that’s when the dinner restaurants open up.

The food was much better at this resort verses the food last year. They have LOTS of dining options here, but my family enjoyed the huge breakfast buffet and the Burger Cart for lunch and the ice cream in the evening. They have a Casino here as well, but we never had time to visit it. They also offer nightly entertainment that was fun.

So, in closing, I would most definitely recommend this resort to any of my clients looking to visit Punta Cana. This country has hundreds of resort options, and I’ve stayed at 2 of them, but I’ve booked so many places that my clients are happy with. The Royalton Punta Cana will be added to the list of greats!

This is my family’s second visit to the Dominican Republic. Last year the ocean was full of seaw**d. 🌊 This year the water is so clear and a gorgous turquoise blue! Almost matches my tropical beverage! 🍹
