Konea 142 is the ONLY ground floor 2 bedroom 2 bath condominium home on the north end of the fabulous Honua Kai resort & spa, and it's the most private and quiet part of the resort yet the ground floor location is most convenient to reach the Viking BBQ grills, the adjacent pools, the adjacent Duke's Restaurant, the beach and ocean just past Duke's, the gym, the spa, the parking garage, and the food lot that's a golf shot away from Konea 142's YARD (yes you get a large yard and garden right next to our covered lanai outdoor dining area. Konea 142 is mostly booked up through June but July 4th week is available and I've discounted all the calendar gap rates to $499 per night through June. Honua Kai is a top end 5 star resort located 1.4 miles north of Black Rock directly on Kaanapali Beach (aka Airport beach). The unit has a full kitchen, 11 foot high ceilings, and you've got to check on over 100 5 star reviews.

I also own and manage a gorgeously updated 2 bedroom 2.5 bath townhome that is 200 feet from the ocean in the lovely Puamana gated community at the south end of Lahaina at 167-4 Pualei Drive. I spend much of the winter here because I love it but Lake Tahoe requires my presence in summer and since people are only starting to realize that Puamana still has the amazing vibe it always did - the demand is lower and its a great time to get a great deal. Open the ocean facing bedroom windows and be soothed to sleep by the sound of gently crashing waves. Your covered parking spot is right in front of 167-4's front door and you can borrow one of the foam surfboards stored there and walk about 500 feet to the surf break that's behind Puamana's gates.

Yesterday I borrowed a dog for the day from the Maui Humane Society as part of their Dog on Demand program. We took him to Sugar Beach and ran around, took a nap, and had a grand old time. I recommend doing this for a day when you visit Maui and you can sign up in advance. My borrowed dog is being adopted but Maui Humane Society is over capacity and may have to euthanize dogs if they don’t get more adopters.

Maui Humane Society offers a Beach Buddies program that allows visitors to take a shelter dog out for a day of fun, beach adventure or cool hike every Wednesday & Friday from 11am – 4pm!

Many people think Lahaina is off limits but in fact this is a wonderful time to visit because the demand is down which means the value is historic. You'll likely never be able to stay here as inexpensively as you can this year. Now that cool weather is coming, it's a great time to visit MAUI! I'm a local retired Reno Firefighter and I own and manage 2 vacation rentals on Ka'anapali Beach and Lahaina. The "limited access" barriers were recently moved farther into Lahaina and that means no restrictions on hosting guests in my Puamana townhome that's just 200 feet from the ocean at the south end of Lahaina. In fact between now and October 23 you can stay for HALF the rate it was booking at before the fire. $350 a night plus fees and taxes for a luxury 2 bedroom 3 bath townhome with 2 large lanais and you can hear and see the ocean from inside. My Puamana townhome is now part of the Green zone. It’s in Lahaina city limits but undamaged and access is not restricted (no more checkpoint, no placard required). I have plenty of availability this winter. I’m staying in it myself and the surf looks great and the community is very peaceful. Update 8/4 after lowering rates several times I have 22 bookings going forward which is above average. However, I STILL have a week coming up soon August 31 - September 6, 2024, and since last minute now offered at just $295 per night + fees and taxes. This is below my cost of ownership and less than 1/2 of what the average nightly rate has been for years. Take advantage!

This 5 star oceanfrony resort has acres of pools, a spa, an included gym, bell and valet service, concierge, and Duke's restaurant on site. If you've never stayed on the ground floor, you'll be hooked on not having to use elevators, plus you only get 11 foot high ceilings and your own yard on the ground floor. Honua Kai is not a budget property, it's outrageously expensive to own, but I strive to beat my competition by offering the best vacation experience and best value for your buck in west Maui.

My Puamana townhome in south Lahaina is unburned and several families have returned to living there. The sewer services are back on and the water is on and safe to drink. I've blocked that calendar through September 22, 2024 and I'll be staying there myself before that time.

P.S. You may have heard that Maui is now initiating steps to phase out 7000 vacation rentals in certain apartment zoned areas on Maui starting July 1, 2025. If it happens, neither of my properties will be affected since they are zoned Hotel and Residential.

My Puamana townhome in south Lahaina is unburned but not yet inhabitable for guests although the cleanup of Lahaina has begun. I've been staying there since there are porta potties and water trailers. Sewer service has been restored and water is flowing but not yet certified for drinking, which is expected soon. I've blocked that calendar through the end of July 2024.
